If you go to MGM at 5 pm, does it cost the same?

My DIL and two GS's and I are arriving in Orlando mid morning and she wants to go to MGM around 5 pm. Do they give you a cut rate on the tickets or do you pay the full price? She said a lady she works with told her they do so I told my DIL I'd check. Anyone know?

We have tickets already for the rest of our stay and this was a last minute decision so we don't have any tickets for our first day. Any help would be appreciated. TIA

Yes, you will pay full cost of a ticket for a day. WDW would not do this because most people would wait til later to go to the parks and they would not be able to control the crowds, as they do.

I can also see - people with watches and cell phones waiting by the door to go in. It would be a WDW nightmare.

However, you may save on parking. We got there at 5:40 and they waived the parking fee.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't think so but she insisted that this lady knew because she's been so many times. What would the cost be with the new Magic your Way tickets? We don't want to add anything to it, we just want a base ticket. The GS's are 4 and 6. Again, TIA

They have Epcot After 4 yearly passes for Florida residents, or did when I lived there, but that's the only thing similar to this that I know of.

That's the beauty of MYW. :)

How many days are your current tickets? If they are 6 or 7 days adding a day costs only a few dollars. I believe the difference between a 7 and 8 day is like $3.

You may want to look into upgrading your tickets - it just may be worth it!

If that's not a possibility for you, you may want to go to DTD for the night and see a film and get something good to eat. I know it's odd to tell you to go to the movies on your WDW vactation, but the theater there is state-of-the-art and is an experience onto itself!

I think they have convention tickets that are sold for a different rate, and are for the evening only since you'd be in a convention all day. I remember getting tickets like that once several years ago while in Orlando for business. This might be what you're friend is thinking about. The ticket I had, I had to get from the people who arranged the convention and they were good only while the convention portion was going on - after that they expired.

NewEnglandDisney - unfortunately we're only going to be there two days and I called Disney and was told it would cost me an extra $56 and some change for an adult and $43 and some change for a child's ticket because we only have the basic ticket. MYW tickets are great for people staying longer but not so good for us week-enders.

Acklander - I believe my DIL said her friend has a brother who lives in Florida and he's the one who was able to get in at night cheaper. Maybe things are different if you're a native.

Anyway, we might consider DTD as an option instead of MGM and go there the next time we go. Thanks for all the suggestions.
