What is the best rate you have gotten for Hard Rock hotel or Royal Pacific Hotel???

I just got a quote for $179/night for the Hard Rock, but it's an obstruced view, on a Friday night. Is this a good deal??? Oh, it's for the first week in December....

Thanks - Jo

Our rate right now is for $179 weekend, $149 weekday.

I think $179 weekend is a very good deal.

Sorry, dumb question ... what's an "obstructed view" at HRH? That's a new one to me. Do you mean a "standard" view?

Anyway, it is a little early for any December discounts yet. There usually isn't much in the way of one-night stay discounts, especially for a Friday night, but you never know. Keep checking. :)

When we booked last week, we were offered obstructed view as well at a lower rate. I was told it has a palm tree or something in front of the window.

a lot of the foliage and trees have grown up more and it blocks a lot or some of the views now.

the higher up you are on the floors, helps prevent having a blockage view.

So then, is an "obstructed" view the same price as a "standard" view? I've heard of "obstructed view" on cruise ships where a porthole or verandah is obstructed by equipment or a lifeboat, but at a hotel by a tree? Why wouldn't this just be a standard/garden view? Just adds another thing to the mix to make things more confusing, IMHO. :confused3

I mean, honestly, I would rather have an "obstructed" view of a tree than an unobstructed "standard" view of a roof, wouldn't you? I guess I just don't get it.

when i was at rph last year the second room they assigned me was an obstructed view.
i did not stay in the room and was moved a third time when i checked in.
long story.

the rate of the room was the same for obstructed view as was the room with a view. no difference in costs in the standard room.

some of the obstructed views are totally blocked due to folliage.

The price they quoted me for the obstructed view was $20 less than the garden view.

what !!!

i never was offered a discount for the obstructed view......

or told they would charge less if i kept that room with no view

It must have been a Canadian special. (where the heck are those smilies???)

The best deal we've ever gotten was $144 a night at HRH weekday rate (for our current trip this May), and $169 weekend rate a couple years ago. We are getting the $179 weekend rate this trip in May for a standard garden view room.

RPR $99 APH rate
HRH $129 Hurricane rate
Both have been a while back though.

motherfletcher, you have had some good rates

for me:
of course these rates were back in the beginning of the hotels......
when i first started staying on site, rph went for w/code $89 night and hrh just over $100. my first stay at hrh was at $112 a night.........

you know we will never see those days again

the rate of $179 I got was a AAA rate....They didn't have a AAA rate for the RPR. I think I wil book for that rate...it seems like it is a good deal.

Thanks everyone...Jo
