If you could live anywhere in the US, where would you live?

I would love to move to North Carolina. I don't know how many of these New England winters I have left in me!

I once took an online "Where Are You Supposed to Live?" quiz. You answered questions regarding what kind of community you liked, what kinds of things you wanted nearby (shopping, museums, entertainment, restaurants, etc.), what kind of weather environment you liked, what kinds of outdoor activities you were interested in, scenery, etc.

Anyway, according to the quiz, my top 3 cities were the following:

1. Savannah, GA
2. St. Augustine, FL
3. Galveston, TX

One of the most accurate online quizzes I've ever taken! LOL! I absolutely would LOVE to live near St. Augustine, FL!! Savannah or Galveston would probably be pretty good too!

Asheville, N.C. just returned from a visit there with our kids and grand-kids...so beautiful.... mountains, Lake Lure, Blue Ridge Parkway...

We are in south burbs of Chicago now....

I've lived in Destin, Telluride, and Boston but moved back to south Louisiana 30 years ago. I would not want to live anywhere else. If money was not an issue, we'd keep our home here as our base and travel most of the year.

Colorado is pretty awesome, but the cold spell we had about a week ago just about did us in!

We lived in Santa Clarita, CA (just north of LA - by Magic Mountain)for the first 6years of our marriage, and I would love to go back after retirement. We have some great friends there.

But my real question is for all you who love Florida/Savannah (my Mom is from Savannah :) how do you deal with the humidity?? I cannot take humidity for a second.

It's basically what you get used to. I 'love' the humidity and can't take the really dry air - makes my skin itchy! LOL Give me the good ole deep south ;)

I'd live in La Jolla, CA. My dad grew up in La Jolla and it holds a special place in my heart.

I really love East TN!

I'd like to be a snowbird in FL someday for about 3 or 4 months.

I visited Portland OR this past summer and really liked it. If I ever win the lottery, I'd probably buy a place there. :)
I like NC and SC also.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. We knew years ago we would want to live here, and we saved and planned, and now, here we are. And very happy with it. So Cal is awesome.

This! If I could live anywhere in the US...$$ being no object...it would be Savannah. But if $$ is a factor, DH likes the states with no state income tax and we like the south...so Florida it is (and that is where we plan to go once the kids are done HS...we just need to figure out where in FL).

This was my answer yesterday. Then last night, I was watching HGTV's House Hunter type show all about buying a house in Hawaii. If money was no object it would be Hawaii...for sure!!!

We moved from Oregon to Charlotte, NC 6 years ago.
I still hate summers here.
I can tolerate it because it's typically only really bad for about a month, maybe two.
I could never live somewhere that has the hot humid weather for 5 months of the year (Florida). :)

If I could pick a place to spend summers, Portland would definitely be at the top of the list. Perfect weather, great restaurants, music, and culture, easy access to the beach, rivers, and mountains (real mountains, not the hills they call "mountains" on the East coast.

The Denver area, where I live, has a lot to recommend it. No humidity, no bugs, a temperate climate, a moderate cost of living and lots and lots of sunshine. I would have to live somewhere with a lot of sunshine. San Diego or my hometown Phoenix in the winter would probably be high on my list.
