If you could isolate yourself for a day or week

from life's interruptions to accomplish a project, where would you go and what would the project be?

I think I would like to go to a timeshare rental in the Berkshires (mountains in MA), bring my computer and get the last 10 yrs worth of digita photos labeled or organized. I would then order some photo books or prints because its been 10 yrs since we've gone digital and it seems I don't have photo albums to sit and look at anymore.

One rule. The camera would need to stay home this time so I wouldn't take anymore photos. :rotfl:

Its a close enough destination, scenic, but not a wasted time or location since its a working vacation. Like I wouldn't waste a trip to the Bahamas working on the computer.

What about you?

scanning all my pictures of my daughter and putting them on a cd

I would want to go to Hawaii in a quiet beach working on my family tree poster.

I had the opportunity to do this the summer before last -- DH was in Afghanistan, and it worked out that both kids were at summer camp the same week. I went tent camping by myself for 3 days. The site was on a hill overlooking a lake, just lovely. I journaled and spent a lot of time reading, fishing and relaxing.

Now I find myself craving a return retreat, and it's probably never gonna happen!

We've been going through a lot lately with DH being home right now recovering from some major surgery. I could really use a break away from my home, my husband, and my kids.

So, I would take a cruise out of NJ to Bermuda or the Caribbean... completely on my own (no family). I would take a stack of romance novels and my knitting. Basically, I'd just enjoy the warm weather and not having anyone demanding my attention for several days in a row.

Those all sound like great ideas. Here's to hoping we each get a little time to ourselves to get them done. :goodvibes

Heck I can't even get bathroom time by myself so I can't even fathom a whole day or week!!!

Not sure where, but I'd love to be able to do my scrapbooking, get all my pictures in some type of order (that alone could take 3-6 months) and I'd also love to find somewhere that could take all my old videos of my DD and copy them to CDs.

Scrapbooking for me, too. I'm so behind on my scrapbooks!

It would be scrapbooking for me too. In one week, I could finish our London/Paris vacation and be rested up and ready for the next book!

I'm currently getting one page a week done. It's been 6 months since that vacation.

I absolutely LOVE the idea of solo camping, and if I could find a warm, scenic place to go, I'd do that.
Otherwise, I'd choose a Disney cruise. It's the most relaxing vacation I've ever taken, and it's so carefree.
It would give me the time to work on a short story/novel. :thumbsup2

As much as I love the beach, I can't believe I'm not going to say the beach (afraid I'd get distracted)....
I'd go to a mountain cabin by a river or stream, catch up on DS baby book, finish reading Eclipse and sleep... Lots of sleep :)

I'd go to bed and I'd grow a kid while I was in there. :)

I'd send DH and DD off on a trip and stay home to oragnize every cabinet, closet, and drawer in the house. It's a process that I'm going through now but they'll say-"No, don't get rid of that", even though they forgot said items existed.

I'd rent a condo on the beach ANY quiet BEACH with white sand and finally write that book I've been promising myself to write forEVER!

If I could be anywhere right now it would be alone on a desserted island with an unlimited supply of malibu rum, pineapple juice and a huge stack of books. Of course as I'm typing this my ds is running around as Anakin Skywalker making laser noises at the storm troopers, my answer may be different if he was sleeping
I'd also get all those scrapbooks done that I've been wanting to start.

I'm laughing at all the scrapbooking comments. I gave up on that long ago. That's why my post said at least getting them organized and printed into photo books at least. Digital cameras and scrapbooking were like the worst things ever invented as far as I'm concerned. :rotfl: Too many pictures now & nothing in an album.

Scrapbooking and I don't mix I guess. :)

When I was a kid, about 35 years ago ;) , a friend of my Mother and Fathers wanted to "get away" from it all for a night. We lived near a HUGE lake that had all these little islands. Well, she was dropped off by boat on one of those little islands with nothing more than a sleeping bag, a gun and a bottle of booze! This was back in the late 60's so no cell phones- and in New England so no palm trees either! So thats where she spent the night and was picked up the next am.

Already planning on the isolation part. My fiance is leaving for Basic soon and so besides the few hours of work and planning this wedding I will be busy writing my first novel, anything to keep my mind busy.
