What would it be like?

I think I would have a Toon Town Resort. It would be sort of like Minnie and Mickey's houses. Big white knobs on the faucets, 1930's style. Green and white tile, etc. It would be neat to have cottages like they have in California.

What do ya'll think?

I'd like to see a Victorian Resort. I know there's the GF, but I'm thinking a Dark and Mechanical Victorian - 20,000 Leagues, Atlantis, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Lots of steam engines, leaded glass windows in walls going up forever, dark pathways with flickering gas lights. And in the main atrium, a giant Orrery (a giant model of the solar system - see Dark Crystal or Tomb Raider) constantly in motion. The CMs would wear classy but slightly somber apparel - Jules Verne could be the character associated with the resort. The Tomorrowland refurb added some of those touches, but a whole resort would be great!

Maybe something like Ancient Rome or Greece. Adding mythical gods and goddesses. A hugh collisum. Just a quick thought.

I was thinking as I was reading your posts that it sounded like a cross between Henry Ford museum, Cranbrook museum *near the planetarium* and the Holly hotel. I just noticed your location! Am I on the right track? (no pun intended) :)

Debbie

Not sure about the Holly Hotel, but right on with HFM and Cranbrook - particularly that giant engine in the middle back that used to power the Ford Rouge plant.

Lots of boilers, steam, pistons and animatronic coal shovelers!

I love your idea! Then again, I am sure our "upbringing" in this area has something to do with it!

My two children have always wanted to stay at the TOT. I am sure if it were an option, they'd quickly change their minds!

I would like to see a value resort themed more like a moderate. Value reort amenities, but a more grown-up feel. They icons are cute and all, but I prefer something a tiny bit more subdued.

Okay Imagineers! Let's put our thinking caps on and send off the best ideas to the guys at the top!

I like the toon town idea...the gothic idea sounds cool- maybe a tad scary for me  .....let me think....oh and I like the Ancient Greece Rome idea- kind of a step back to Hercules' time...okay here's mine- I would love to see a Medieval Castle-

Medieval Castle....
Kind of set up like Cinderella's castle- all the CM's would be dressed like serfs/pages- gas torches would light the hallways- the pool would be a moat surrounding the resort- and all the rooms would have themes aligned with Hans Christian Anderssen stories. Okay, what else can we come up with???

I would like the same type as the WL but with larger rooms. It would also have a bigger pool sort of on lines like the Polynesian pool but with a mountain instead of the volcano but still zero clearance. And most importantly it would have the monorail instead of the horrible transportation it does have.

We're with you, IMHALL2000, its time we had a Cinderella Castle themed hotel! I'd love it. A Sherwood Forest playground, a dining room full of mini roundtables, CM's in prince and princess clothes. It would be the best!

What about something designed like the Tower of Terror. They could even have a"Who dunnit" theme restaurant. Maybe even a "special elevator".

How about a Wizard of Oz theme...like munchkin land...poppies growing everywhere...the walkways would be yellow bricks...

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Theming: Transportation
This could be especially appropriate for preschoolers who just want to ride the monorail, the train, etc.

*On a new monorail circuit* (We are dreaming, right? ;) ) This resort is so special that it has monorail access to all four parks plus DTD. ;)

A huge lobby with glass elevators.

A train that makes a figure-8 pattern through the resort.

On a lake so water mice and boat rides are options.

Horse-drawn carriages would add to the atmosphere.

Special fireworks just for the resort.

Think we could fly if we had a little trust, faith, and pixie dust?

Two/Three distinct rooms - one/two for kids, one for adults - with a living area and small kitchenette. It wouldn't have to be much bigger than deluxe rooms are now to still be afforadable. Oh, yeah, we're dreaming, price is not a problem! :p Add porches with rocking chairs and I'm good to go. The rooms could be kind of a cross between WL rooms/WL lobby and Holiday Inn Family Suites.

A "studio M" type of place at the resort - one picture free per night's stay. :) Additional purchases optional, of course. At least a private place to spend a few minutes with Mickey and Minnie.

Different pool areas. One hot tub/quiet pool oriented; one smaller kid/family oriented with zero entry; one big kid oriented with something similar to Storm-a-long Bay, but with a slide entrance INSIDE the pool area and waterfall.

A large resort shopping area. :jester:

I think Wizard of Oz is a Warner Bros. thing! I would like a castle theme.

Folks,

It looks like we have some more evidence that the line between Disney World and Las Vegas is blurring.

Ancient Rome/Greece => Caesars Palace, with gods and goddesses.
Medieval / Cindy's Castle => Excalibur, complete with moat and fire-breathing dragon, Arthur and Gwen.
Oz => MGM Grand had it, complete with thunder and lightning every 15 minutes.
Giant lake out front => Bellagio

They are building a new monorail system (even using Disney-type trains) to connect 4 miles of the Strip.

An Ancient Egyptian Pyramid surrounded by an Oasis! I love the Luxor in Vegas and can only imagine what Disney could do with the theme.

Also love the ancient Greece theme with all those myths to work with.

A space station would be cool, but you'd have to have star field views from the windows and that would take all that Florida sunshine away.

It might be easier to design/create more fun/themed restaurants. Has anyone been to Jeykle and Hydes in NYC? What a fun restaurant. Might be a little frighening for little folks so locate it in DTD. I bet everyone can come up with a MILLION new places to eat.

Since I'm Asian, I think I'd like to see a resort with a bit of Asian theming... (Call me biased!) You know, different sections/buildings with designs inspired by the various regions of that continent! The CMs (and characters, too!) could be all decked out in traditional dress, and just imagine the restaurant possibilities! I think this would prove to be a great educational tool for children, as well.

So many of these sound fabulous! I hope the imagineers look at this thread!

I think also another fun one would be an "Under the Sea" theme with King Tritons castle!

I wish they would start to theme the resorts more after Disney movies....for example if they were to do an Asian theme tie in Mulan and actually design areas straight out of the flick!

A greek theme tie in Hercules.... and so on and so on... Then like a desert theme and tie in Aladdin!!!!

OK, here is my idea. I have actually been thinking about this one for quite some time.

Theme: Route 66 (Classic Americana)
A long strip of hotels, shops, "drive-in" movie theaters, diners etc.

The themeing would start with Chicago and follow the route all the way to Southern California ending with a monorail trip to "Disneyland" AKA the Magic Kingdom. It would have to be a long strip of resort inbetween the TTC and WL. All the hotels would look like actual Motels along the root Pools would be themed as appropriate with "the Truman resevoir" near St Louis. Classics Like Ted Drew's in St Louis with their "Concrete's" would be offered. The highway would be in the same vein as the courtyard of "Touchdown" in ASSp with a "street" with classic cars along the way for kids to play in. Bicycles to ride. A miniature train would make it's way regularly from end to end. There would be urban, forest, plains, mountains desert etc, etc. Lots and lots of material. It could be the size of Pop Century only stretched in to a line. The curves of the line could even follow the actual route.

OK, everybody... PLease rate my idea by letting me know if you'd stay at this kind of resort.
