I thought this could be fun!

If you could build a disney restaurant in the park (or in DTD) what would it be and what would they serve? Could be table or counter service.

Mine are all focused on themes and environments because that's what I love! :p

  • A Star Wars themed restaurant with all different types of food from around the world (or universe! ;p)
  • An Indiana Jones restaurant that takes place in and around the ride/temple, themed to the 20's, so food would be old fashioned cuisine.
  • I'd love to have a dinner on the Mark Twain Boat! So like a dinner cruise?
  • A Space themed restaurant. Not like the Pizza Port, which is neat, but something fancier and higher near the roof of Space Mountain, that has stars everywhere, and clean, space age looking food. Would be cool if the restaurant spun around slowly as well, changing the views.
  • A Cave themed restaurant, under or near the Matterhorn. This would be a gorgeous cavern glittering with gems, and underground waterfalls and lakes. As the Matterhorn is in Switzerland, I'd love swiss cuisine.
  • A Toon Town sit down restaurant. I'd love this, and so would my kids. Eating in a Toon restaurant? Eating with Cartoon forks? Eating funny shaped foods? Yes please! I'd love food that would be what toons would come up with (like Goofy's PB&J pizza at Goffy's Kitchen). Just fun stuff.

So what are yours?

A table service...themed around Haunted Mansion. Maybe even have around 4 different dining rooms and do a fun mystery who-done-it crime to solve in each area. All the servers would be 'ghosts'. The dining rooms would be decorated much like Haunted mansion...spider webs, torn wall paper, thread bare table cloths, eerie stains on the ceilings, etc.

I would like a "small world" themed restaurant featuring foods from all over the world in one place. It would have small portions of interesting foods and you could mix and match to create your own international feast. It would be easy to try new things since you're not committing to a whole meal of an unfamiliar cuisine.

OH WOW those are amazing ideas!!

I'd love a gluten-free area.. I've been trying to stay away lately from it. But there's so much amazing bread at Disneyland! ;) Makes it hard!

If there was a Haunted Mansion restaurant I might just go insane with excitement! I am a huge Halloween/Horror lover, so this would be a must-go place!

And the Small World with the international food just makes so much sense! Why hasn't something like that been made? It's like a mini Epcot food experience!

*ahem*, Disney....*AHEM* ;)

I love these ideas! The Indy one would be great - and if they could do it so it overlooked the loading area, that would be cool (sort of like Blue Bayou at POTC)

I'm on board with this one...ONLY if I don't hafta listen to the Small World song over, and over, and over, and over, and over while I eat. I can handle it on the ride (and actually like it)...but I don't know if I could handle it for nearly an hour while I eat. :crazy2:

I love all of these ideas!!! I wrote a whole post and thought I'd finished it but since I don't see it on here, I guess I was called away by my kiddos before it was done!

There was only one response when I originally wrote but I love the subsequent suggestions. Small world...that's great!

Someone else had an idea similar to mine, with a Blue Bayou-type situation. I'd love to see a sit-down restaurant looking out over the Jungle Cruise, maybe where the Tahitian Terrace (was that the name?) used to be. I loved that place and I think I've read that it would be very hard to fix up the infrastructure to support a restaurant again, but it would be cool.

I'd also love a 20s-inspired restaurant, and you could include both Indy and Princess Tiana.

LOVE the idea of a dinner cruise on the Mark Twain!!!

I think it would be so cool to have a restaurant up on top of the castle (inside or outside). I doubt if there is any room for it, but maybe they could build on an addition somewhere :rotfl:

Totally couldn't be done, I suppose, but it would be cool to have a monorail restaurant. The monorail could go directly to the restaurant and it would be in DTD, I guess, with no other access than monorail. That way you would have to be a park guest to get in and they wouldn't have to have another checkpoint as you wouldn't be able to get into it without having already been in DL. As you can see, this is a very poorly formed idea :lmao:

Love the Mark Twain dinner cruise idea. That would be so relaxing and nice:)

Here in Arizona we have a restaurant that slowly spins around, it is called the compass and it is on top of a hyatt. I have never been there but I hear that it is super amazing(:

I would love to eat at a Haunted Mansion who-dunnit type of restaurant!!! :D

If I could design a restaurant I would have one like the Disney cruise ships. How throughout the meal it slowly gets more and more colorful. And each week or month they would showcase a meal that anyone submitted. That way new chefs could get their foot in the doors and try something new(:
Or I would love to have a 20's/30's type restaurant that was based off the tower of terror! It would be classy but still have that awesome retro feel to it. Maybe also a who-dunnit type deal, or like a dinner and a (horror)show.

I love the idea of a murder mystery time restaurant with the HM!!!! And a restaurant overlooking the Jungle Cruise/Indiana Jones, especially if the food was "exotic" themed too (African, Egyptian, etc).

I think I would love a 40s/50s themed restaurant that has a live big band orchestra with dancing, a la The Rocketeer or White Christmas. Could even be a replacement for Carnation Plaza swing dancing (yes, I know, the dancing will still take place but it won't be the same atmosphere, IMO).
