... will you still get motion sickness? I really want to ride this with my kid, I just have horrible motion sickness issues. I just close my eyes on Star Tours and most of Soarin' and I'm just fine. Can I do this with FJ? Or is it the motion of the ride itself that makes people so sick?

Close your eyes during the simulator parts only. In my expert opinion (check my occupation), it is the slight disconnect between the visual cues and the motion cues, called latency, during the simulator portions that makes most people sick. You should be fine for the dark ride portions.

That said, don't seek me out if you still ralph. ;)

Ok, I get it. Still a wee bit worried about the ralph thing.

The ride itself isn't really shaking you crazy, it is tilting back and forth and on occasion it will toss you a bit, but it doesn't compare to a spinning ride for example. I think during the simulator rides with screens in front of you, you should definitely close your eyes, but as mentioned you probably will be fine on the dark ride parts. (Maybe close your eyes during the whomping willow just to be sure)

Agreed--it's really very smooth, except for maybe the Willow like you say. But otherwise when you transition between scenes it is a very fluid motion.

Certainly go on an empty stomach if you can (DW found out the hard way not to drink pumpkin juice beforehand), or a number of people have found over-the-counter meds like bonine to help. Someone I think even mentioned ginger.

I did fine with eyes closed. Half closed on second ride and was able to ride eyes open by the third ride...no sickness

:cool1:

I also get motion sickness very easy. I don't ride Star Tour and most other simulator rides because of it; however, I really wanted to try the Harry Potter ride and so I took non-drowsy Dramamine in the morning and I was pleasantly surprised that I did fine on it.

I was worried about getting sick too - I get a little queasy on Soarin' and even MIB when they spin and Cat and The Hat too BUT I did not get queasy on FJ....not too sure why the difference though...

I have taken ginger and bonine to help with motion sickness. Both work well, but I would burp up the ginger taste---gross! I take a pill the night before and one that AM and do not eat breakfast. This seems to really help me. I only had to close my eyes during the flying/Quiddich part.
