...More power to you!:rotfl:

Here's the scoop...

We're planning an extended-family trip to WDW in June 2012. In order to accomplish this, we need to do TWO point transfers, June 2011 UY and June 2012 UY. I called MS today to try to figure out when I need to do the transfers. So, I'll work backwards in an attempt to make sense...

1) Trip dates fall in the JUNE 2012 UY
2) Trip will require using BANKED 2011 and CURRENT 2012 points
3) Reservation will be made at the 11-month window (July 2011)

When I explained this to MS, the first reply I got was that I cannot transfer IN the 2012 points in July of 2011 because "borrowed" points cannot be transferred. I pointed out to her that the points would NOT be "borrowed" since the vacation dates fall in the 2012 UY. After a few moments of silence, she agreed that there should be a way to do this. I was most concerned about the one transfer per year rule since we definitely need two years worth of points.

The conclusion (solution) that she gave me was this: I need to call on the day that I am going to make my reservation (July 2011) and do the transfer of the 2011 UY points and immediately bank them. Then, I can do the transfer in of the 2012 points and make the reservation at that time.

Does this sound right? I mentioned the one transfer per year rule and she said that it is per UY, in this case, the 2011 points would be the one transfer for 2011 and the 2012 points would be the one transfer for 2012. The fact that the transfers would be done on the same day is irrelevant. Does this seem like the best plan? I am paranoid that they will tell me that I can only do one of the transfers which will leave me WAY short of the points that I need.

Any thoughts?

Are you talking about an actual transfer from a different owner? Or do you mean banking your points and using 2 years worth of points?

In 2011UY you can except a transfer and bank those points into 2012. Then in 2012UY you can except a transfer and make your reservation. I have done this, Is this what you are asking? It is one transfer per UY. Make sure the transfer that you are excepting is from your home resort if you are trying to get the 11 month booking window. I don't know why it all has to be in the same day. Make sure you keep the transfer confirmation number.

Yes, you will be fine. You can make two transfers on the same day as long as they are from/into different Use Years.

I would actually suggest doing the transfer of 2011 points ASAP so you can bank them and then handle the second transfer just before you will need to make the reservation. Some have reported that transfers have been manually completed and may not be usable in your account immediately - so I'd try to get those completed prior to your 11 month priority for the reservation you want to make.

Transfers may be made for the current Use Year and the next Use Year - so you could accept a transfer of 2011 points right now - unless you have a September, October or December Use Year (since those are still in the 2009 Use Year). I would go ahead and get the 2011 transfer as soon as you can and bank those points and then once inside your 2011 Use Year, you can go ahead and accept the transfer of 2012 points and you'll be all prepared for your 11 month priority.

Enjoy! :)

I actually asked the MS CM if I could do this and she told me "no". The points I am transferring in (yes, from another owner) have a June UY and I have a Feb UY. She told me that the 2011 points cannot be transferred until after the June 2011 UY starts. I don't get it, though. If I can transfer the 2012 points in July 2011, then why couldn't I transfer the 2011 points in 2010:confused3.

I am wondering... if I were to transfer in 2011 points NOW, once they are in my account, could I use them to make a reservation before June 1, 2011? In effect, that would be *borrowing* transferred points, right? I didn't think that was allowed. Maybe that is why they suggested I wait until the day I make the reservation so that they can see for themselves that the reservation I am making will be using current 2012 points.

Oh, and FWIW, I have a FEB UY at AKV and the transferrer has a JUNE UY at OKW. We are planning on staying at OKW so we are very happy to have the 11-month advantage with the transferred points:).

I would call back and ask another MS rep. Several have reported being allowed to transfer points into the next Use Year. You should be able to accept a transfer of 2010 points into your 2010 Use Year right now - and then could bank them for use in 2011 based on their original Use Year and Home Resort.

No ... the 2011 points are supposed to be transferred into your 2011 Use Year and cannot be used for reservations prior to when that Use Year begins for those points since they will retain the Home Resort and Use Year status. If you accept June 2011 points into your February 2011 Use Year, you could not use them for reservations before June 1,2011. You could not use them before that date though. If you had a June Use Year and accepted February points, they could be used for dates beginning February 1. The trtansferred points are not supposed to assume any characteristics of the contract into which they were transferred.

You will have the 11 month priority for the Home Resort of transferred points but can't combine points from other resorts until 7 months.

I guess this is what I would interpret as "no borrowing". The points would retain their 2011 UY status, meaning that I could not borrow them into 2010. Your explanation is exactly what I was looking for!:thumbsup2

We will not be combining our points with the transferred points at all....mainly because we won't have any:lmao:.

Nope - from the POS- transferred points may be banked, but they cannot be borrowed.
