Edit: Went with an August Use Year; this was our first DVC purchase. FYI, We haven't even stayed at a DVC property and already did a 50 point add-on @ VGC! (At least we did use DPs to stay at Grand Cal. Hotel before the add and I looked at the model rooms while in DL...)

Were there any promotions when you bought? We got 20 off per point or a free 7 day cruise for 4 while on the disney cruise. This was during the member referral, but it was 4 more points off without the referral, if booking while on the cruise. We went with the money off rather than the cruise. The cruise dates were during school months. The cruise promotion covered all but $300 of the closing costs. We also got 2008 points up front. We will have a February use year!

Got the founders tile and 3 nights in a 1 bedroom at the BW Preferred view Thurs, Fri & Sat during Premier Season -- worth 200 points. Although I would so much rather had the cruise, this wasn't a bad deal at all IMHO as we got to upgrade from a studio for the week--so that was priceless.

Plus I used my Disney Visa-- and I didn't have to pay it off till this month!!!

We'd originally written our contract for 250 points @ $96 a point with the referral incentives, but re-wrote (we'd not yet sent our paperwork back) after the Vacation as you Wish webcast, increased our purchase to 500 points and I think, got an incredible deal....June UY, 100 + all additional point contracts @ 50 points (so nine contracts total).
