If you booked a date you definitely want while onboard...

since I can't move it again
I believe you can move an OBB as many times as you want. You'll still get the OBB perks (as long as the cruise is taken within that 24 month period). You can move the date outside the 24 month window, but you'd lose the benefits.

...
I have another reservation as well, which was an OBB that was transferred to another date. I did not get an email about that one. Presumably since I can't move it again, they don't need to advise.

Is this because it is after the PIF date for your cruise? If not, you can move it as often as you wish as long as you board the ship within 24 months.

We booked a dummy date while onboard on March 20. We let the agent know it was just a placeholder while we waited for Summer 2016 dates to be released, and he put us on the 4/27/16 Wonder cruise. He said that's where they put all the placeholder bookings because it was the furthest out and the cheapest. Maybe that's how they know which are dummy dates? Of course, if that's the cruise you really want, you'd still have a problem!

Once you said that, I looked mine up and indeed it is the 4/27/16 Wonder cruise!! We booked ours Dec '14 and that's the furthest out they were at the time.

We booked onboard the Magic March 15 cruise. My dummy booking was the Wonder sailing noted above, and was marked as placeholder on the slip that I received from the onboard booking agent.
I received an email about this 'placeholder' booking advising me of the changes to the system. (And incidentally, I think it's a great idea that will no doubt clear up Disney's inventory management and understanding of who actually intends to sail on any given date.)

I didn't notice anything on my slip that indicated placeholder but just looking at it online I have just a 'GTY' for stateroom. I didn't think you could pick GTY with so much inventory so there must be something coded that triggered DCL to send the email. (we're not with a TA) So I guess if you're not booked for that 4/27 cruise you may not be getting the emails because they assume you are actually taking that cruise. If you wanted the 4/27 Wonder, then for sure you should call before Apr 17 to confirm just-in-case.

I think I'm missing something.
We have a dummy cruise booked (we booked on board last week). What is it that they are doing with dummy bookings?
Tia

You are all correct, of course. I was meaning that if I moved that one reservation, I would just lose my OBB benefits.

I see this thread out there and wished I had seen it in April.

Mine was NOT a dummy booking but it was cancelled and put in as a simple placeholder. Had an unpleasant conversation today with DCL supervisors.
