If you book an excursion through Disney, where do they drop you off?

If you book an excursion through Disney and the meet time says 8:10 a.m., approx. what time do you actually get off the ship and start going to excursion?
Also if it is listed that it will last 1-1.5 hours. What exactly does that time include? Is that including the wait time on the ship, the transport to the excursion, and back to the boat? Or is it only the time of the actual excursion?
And with Disney excursions, do they always drop you off back at the boat? Or do you have other options to stay on the island?
I am especially curious about the Seaworld Explorer Semi-Sub excursion on Grand Cayman.
Thanks.

You normally have a set place to meet. Sometimes you will meet as a group on the ship and go to the excursion as a group. You will be given some type of wristband or id that Disney uses to indicate you have purchased that excursion. You will then as a group be led out to where your transportation or excursion is located.

I have not been on the excursion with Disney you are talking about. I did it several years ago with another cruise line. But the excursion I have purchased this is how it was done.

You will leave as a group, but you are not necessarily brought back as a group or dropped off right at the ship.

With our excursion in Nassau, we had 2 return times to choose from, and once the boat got back, you walked back to the ship on your own about 10 min. It was a straight walk, so you really couldn't get lost.

On the catarmaran sail in Nassau, we had the option of getting off at Atlantis, but you had to get back on your own from there.

In St. Thomas, our excursion boat was docked right in front of the Magic.

In looking at some excursions, it says that the DCL excursion will come back at a certain time. Since many places are also "open" to those doing it on your own, you can usually stay longer, but you probably will have to pay extra for the transportation back.

As for the time frame, I would imagine the 1 - 1 1/2 hours just allows for some lee-way (sp.).
