and it's a nice day watch for the shuttle you lucky ducks.

"The target launch date has now changed to May 22, 2005 at 1:03p.m. with a launch window extending through June 3, 2005." From the KSC

Wow! thanks for the heads-up. Unfortunately, the 22 is our travel day. We probably wont make it to Orlando until after 4:00 pm.

BUT, if the date gets pushed back, we may get to see it! Woohoo!!!

Thanks for letting us know that. We will be there on May 22, it will actually be our last full day before we leave on the 23rd. Can you really see the launch (or parts of it in some form) from WDW? Where is the best place at WDW to see it from. That would certainly be exciting to see. :Pinkbounc

::MickeyMo We will be at AK on May 22nd. This will be my fourth and my brother's 1st if all goes as planned. I think you should be able to see it from anywhere on WDW property as it goes up.

::MickeyMo I have seen launches while at Vista Way (CP housing neat Downtown Disney), All Star Sports, and I had the chance to see Columbia go up from a Kissimmee Walmart at around the same time as this is scheduled. :wizard: Rebecca

If it's a clear day you will be able to see it streak across the sky. The last time we saw it we were at TL and everyone stopped whatever they were doing to stare up at it, it was very cool.

Cool! We'll be at TL that day, glad to know we can see it from there. Thanks for the heads up!

We will be there as well. Planning on heading down closer to see it. Not looking forward to the traffic though !!

We'll be there and that is hubby's bday, how cool is that! We are going to be there the 20-22.....we live locally, but have only lived here a year so we have never seen one before!

We are leaving on the Wonder from PC on the 22nd. Will we be able to see the launch from the ship?

We will be there. This will be the third time in a row that a launch is scheduled while we're at WDW. The other two were cancelled at the last minute. I'm hoping this one will happen!

when you say launch window does that mean it has the potential to go up until that date and not necessarily on May 22nd??

That'd be SO COOL if it waited until May 30th when we got there, I've never seen anything like that before!! :Pinkbounc

Yea! :cheer2: We'll be there too! We saw it 14 years ago on our honeymoon in WDW. It would be too cool to see it again! Let's hope it goes! :Pinkbounc

Sorry!

Return to Flight Moves to July Window
July 13-July 31

"NASA announced on April 29 that Discovery's Return to Flight would move to the July launch window to allow for further safety analysis and perhaps the addition of a heater to the external tank to address icing issues. The decision was made April 28, after a series of reviews showed that further work was needed to address debris issues and some items that were discovered during work on the launch pad.

The target launch date has now changed to July 13, 2005 at with a launch window extending through July 31, 2005." From KSC
