...what do you do for a living?

(Inspired by the retirement thread).

I like my day job OK but I don't love it, so I won't post about it.

I do have a small business selling out-of-print books and ephemera, and I absolutely love it, and will never retire from it. My day job, I would retire from in a heart beat.

I love my job! I teach acting and other theater related classes for kids in K-12th grades and I direct children's and youth theater productions (usually 4 full-scale productions a year). The kids in my program are very serious and work very hard. We really enjoy our time together! I have seniors now that are graduating and heading off to university theater programs or jobs all across the country that have been involved with the program since kindergarten. I've literally watched them grow up on stage. It's wonderful!

I LOVE ALL OF MY JOBS! First and foremost - I'm a SAHM. The pay ain't great - but I LOVE IT!

Second - I'm professional childbirth assistant or "Doula" and I can't tell you how much I love this job!!! Helping new. innocent life into the world - you just can't beat that!

My other job is a volunteer position for a Troop Support organization. Again...I LOVE IT! It's a lot of weekend time, and trying to figure out ways to raise money and donations, but in the end, its probably one of the most fulfilling jobs that I do.

Pediatric nurse, and there is absolutely nothing I would rather be doing :goodvibes

My husband and I both love our jobs!

I sell real estate and the only thing that can make my job miserable, is a miserable client. I've had one and that's it. Nothing could make that man happy. So... I quit trying!

My husband is a career firefighter and a home inspector. He wouldn't give up either career.

Does professional student count as a job? I love to learn!

I graduate in May and will be back in the "real world" of working... I hope to go back to graduate school pretty soon, though! :)

I most recently worked as a nurse extern in the medical and surgical critical care units. LOVED every minute of it! :)

I work in the IT field doing application design and development. I absolutely love the creative and technical aspects of the job and would do it for free; however I despise the administrative work. :badpc: So - I guess you could say I love my job sometimes. I also am very thankful that I work from home and have flexible hours - a lifesaver with 3 kids.

GEM - Where do you live in Arkansas? I am a school counselor and your job sounds wonderful! Are you in a public or private system? I am also in Arkansas - in the northeast corner right on the Miss. river.

Hey Candace! I'll send you a PM, but the program I work with is actually a private program that's offered to kids through our local university. (I'm an employee of the university.) The kids pay for the classes, but the productions are free and the kids have to audition for roles. We have afternoon, weekend, and summer classes and productions. We use the university's theater facilities and work pretty closely with the university theater department and their faculty and students. It's great! Last year I took 14 of my high school age students to New York for 8 nights for a Broadway tour. We took classes, saw 6 shows, did talk sessions with theater professionals, etc. This summer, I'm taking a group of 11 junior high and high school age students to Disney World for 9 nights. We're doing the Youth Education series. We'll be doing acting and improvisation classes, a video production class at MGM, lots of backstage tours of Disney theaters, a Disney audition workshop, a tour of the Cirque theater, etc. I can't wait!!

I am a credit manager by day (could leave it) and a real estate agent the rest of the time (Love it!) I have always loved to explore houses and daydream about what the big mansions looked like inside. Now I get to do that quite often

I'll admit I love my job. It's the worst paying, but most rewarding job in teaching that I've ever had. I teach high school equivalency classes to adults. They'll be the first to admit that they were the ones who couldn't wait to drop out of school, maybe got pregnant, into drugs, whatever. But now they find themselves trying to support a family without having a high school degree. They're so strongly motivated to get that diploma! I used to teach regular high school. Many of those kids were at the other extreme in terms of self-motivation. But as much as I love my job, and I do, I look forward to retirement, so I can spend more time at WDW!

I absolutely without a doubt love my job - I'm a Minister at a local church =)

Firefighter/Paramedic.

It beats having a REAL job anyday!!!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

As a hairdresser, I love cutting hair. I really, really love that part of my job.

I LOVE my job! I am a speech-language therapist who works 3 days a week in a hospital with stroke victims, swallowing patients, doing newborn hearing screenings, etc... and 2 days a week at a middle school with all types of children needing language therapy (children with autism, learning disabilites, etc...). I love the fast pace of the hospital as well as the loving affection of middle school students (ha ha  ). But seriously...it is the best job in the world, and I wouldn't choose anything else! :thumbsup2

I'm a speech pathologist, too! I LOVE my job. I work in the public school system with all ages. I actually do love the middle school and high school bunch. They can be a lot of fun. Mostly I just love when the light comes on and the kiddo "gets" what we have been working on. It is one of the best feelings in the world!

I LOVE my job!

I work at Blockbuster. I love my co-workers, my work, the customers, all of it! This is the best job I have ever had and I had no idea it would be this great!

I actually am planning a career here. I hope to move up through the company (which I am told by my managers that it will happen and quickly) and then transfer to their legal department as a paralegal, since I have my certificate.

I just love my job! :teeth:

I like my job. It basically is a means to an end - food on the table and a roof over my head, BUT, it suits my personality. I'm an administrative assistant. I'm somewhat anal retentive and I have control issues, so keeping someone else in line suits me just fine. :teeth:

I don't get paid a fortune, but considering that it's an easy job - answering the phones, approving invoices, maintaining calendars, faxing things, opening mail, DISing half the day... well, I can't complain! Actually, right now I'm working for the benefits, which are spectacular. It's also nice that I get along with the people around me, so it is a pleasant environment. I have worked in places that I just hated, and that really stinks. Having been there, I really appreciate what I have now.
