I would never go to a restaurant where reservations or needed, or that had a wait at the door and sit at a table just to order drinks. I think it is rude to those waiting to actually sit down and eat. When they are not busy and have lots of open tables, or if you sit at the bar then I think it is fine. I don't think the rules of common courtesy should be any different at Disney. I would never walk into a restaurant that requires an ADR and take up a table just for drinks. I sugest that if you really want to see sci-fi, go for shakes and burgers, or get shakes and a couple of apps to share.

I absolutely agree with this.

I think people are getting carried away and believe they have the "right" to experience every inch of Disney, without any consideration for anyone else,,,,, while common courtesy and manners fall by the wayside.

Well, we go at off times. We sit at the back so we're not taking up space in a "car". When we go, we find there is always plenty of open seating. We order what we want. We've been doing this for many years. And, we are most definitely not going to stop just because somebody on these boards thinks we should!

I wouldn't make an ADR for a shake. Takes the reservation away from someone else. If it isn't busy mid-afternoon and you can walk in...

...I would get the shake at 50's Prime Time myself.

we had this on out to do list after an adr for, i think it was chef mickeys and when we called the cm said no pick just 1.. we told her it would just be for snacks and she kept it but cancelled our chef micky....

Op have a great time. For those that won't go just for apps or dessert that's ok too ( I put shakes in the dessert category). Everyone is entitled to their own views. Please continue to be respectful of others views. Thanks!

I wouldn't do that..... it is a restaurant and you are taking away a reservation from other customers.

The flip side of that coin is that someone might be able to get a walk up if a table turns over quickly.

For the record, Sci Fi is one of four sit downs we have planned for our upcoming Marathon weekend trip. We love the place.
