You are so right - seeing any Disney park decked out for Christmas is the most beautiful thing!
I never thought that we would pull off another trip to DLRP in the spring, but it worked out great. The flight was too good/cheap to give up and the villa comes at a discount too!
We're going to play with Mickey for 5 more days! How long are you going to stay? Hope you are all well too!

We are staying for 12 days. Not as long as the summer, but we'll take whatever we can get. Howie has to get back to work and Rachel doesn't want to miss too much school.
I love your hotel room. I love the comforters on the bed...the little magic touches are wonderful!
Tell Tom "thanks" for the wonderful, fun calenders. Can't wait til December 1 when I can actually open them.

You know, Linda, that was one comment I made to Tom ..... it doesn't "wow" me, like the Contemporary this summer, but it was a really nice hotel and we would stay there again in a heartbeat. It is just not my price range (for DLRP, even with a 35% AP discount).
We visited the Sequoia Lodge a while back and were able to peek into a room and it didn't "wow" me either. I think, it's something to do that the hotels are so close together and the theming is not as exquisite as it is in the US.

I guess my main worry is that the HNY will be full of suited buisness people (it was last time I popped in for a drink) but the location is great and if the flash sale I am waiting for goes ahead I think it's where I will stay

You are going to love the Advent calendars. They are really fun and Tom was very pleased to see all the response.
DLRP was a lot of fun, so much so that we booked again for April.

I'm very glad you enjoyed it!!! Like Kathy, I liked the comforters as well...interesting decor combo with the rest of the room...but location, location, location

Please tell Tom thank you for doing the calenders again! I loved his calender last year - it was really fun. I of course had to try them both already to see what the "not yet" message would be. The hotel room looked nice, can't wait to see what your view looks like in the daytime.

Tom was really happy with all the response he got! I am pretty sure you are going to love this year's calendar too! Once it has started, go and try to skip ahead .... you are going to love it!
It really was a nice hotel room and the location just a few steps away from the park was awesome!

Wow! 12 nights at Christmas time ....... I am green with envy!
Disney at Christmas time is just so awesome. Did you see they have lots of Christmas themed drinks? I really hope you try some.
I loved the Mickeys on the bed. I thought it looked so cute, especially since there are not so many Disney touches in the room anyway.
Not much longer and the calendars will open up ..... I guess you are going to have a lot of laughs with the hat one!

My biggest problem is that I keep comparing them to the US rooms and they just don't match up.
We actually only once saw a huge group of people who were at a conference, but they were all in "everyday" clothes, so no big problem. But you definitely cannot beat the location (well, you could if you would stay at the DL hotel ) and if you can get a good deal on it, I would definitely stay there again.

It was a short vacation, but so worth going. We really loved it.
The rooms aren't very Disney like, I miss the little touches you get in the US, but it was a nice room, we loved the view and it was very close to the parks.

As for the calendars, you start on Dec 1st with 1 and go like this until the 25th! EASY!!!
If I were you, I WOULD try a day that's not already there, there is a cute surprise!
And btw, both calendars are different!

I was happy about the bed situation too! Especially since I specifically had asked if the rooms had two beds.
I loved the day blankets - the Mickey head design was pretty cool.

Day 2, November 17

Plans? What plans? - Part 1

Our plans were to make it to the park as early as possible. So Tom had set the alarm for 6am.
The alarm went off and we felt like we hadn’t slept at all. Let’s add another half hour of sleep and when that was over we added another half hour. At 7 we had to get up in order to make it to the restaurant for our breakfast time which was 7.40.
I needed to wash my hair, so I went into the bathroom first. Got into the shower and turned it on and the water was COLD. Played around with it for a while and it still stayed cold. I was actually thinking about washing my hair with cold water when after quite a while the water started to get warm. So, hair washed, shower taken, I blow dried my hair while Tom was shaving. We were both ready by 7.30 and on our way to the elevator to go down to the restaurant.
There are two restaurants serving breakfast and we didn’t know which one we were supposed to, but we quickly found it, handed in our “voucher” and were quickly taken to a table.

They had prepared a hot and cold buffet in the New York City Bar

and while we were stunned at the small round tables and plush chairs, we were lucky to have one of those tables to ourselves, while families of four shared the same size of tables. We got our drinks,

Tom got some coffee, while I stuck with the Hot Chocolate, and we got some

orange juice, which was more like tangerine juice. We checked out the different stations and decided to start off with some hot items.

We both got scrambled eggs, anaemic looking sausages, some bacon, some tomatoes, breakfast potatoes and small fresh baguette rolls.

The eggs were actually quite nice. I didn’t care for the sausages, which were kind of warm(ish), but not fried enough for me and lacked a bit in taste. The bacon was cut a bit thick for my liking and could have done with a little more frying, but the taste was still quite nice. When we were done with our first plates, Tom went to get some items from the cold buffet,

different kinds of ham, some cheese, butter and tomatoes and more small baguette. I wanted to get something sweet and got

a pudding and raisin roll and a chocolate croissant. We both liked what we had on our plates and once we had cleaned them we got on our way back to the elevators. But we had to go past the shop, which was now open. Since we were late for Extra Magic Hours already we decided to pop in and have a look around. Needless to say that we did not leave without some purchases. One of the reasons we had gone to Disneyland Paris was to buy one of their calendars. And yip, the shop was carrying them and there were a few other small items we wanted to have. About 10 minutes later and 50 Euros poorer we left the shop again and headed to the elevator to go back to our room.

We put our stuff away, donned our coats and, backpack in hand we left the hotel to walk over to the park.
From the hotel it’s only a short walk through the Disney village to the parks and we quickly found out that they had installed a bagcheck station at the entrance to the Disney village. Our bags went on the conveyer and through the x-ray machine and we entered the village.

Breakfast was pretty nice.
Weather, well, was typical fall/winter weather and we were happy it was not raining cats and dogs.

Plans? What plans? - Part 2

Some of the shops were already open and we slowly walked through and checked for new merchandise that we had not seen before. We were very surprised to find the Disney Store closed and it only opening at 4pm, but there was still the new World of Disney to check out and headed on over there.

They were just opening up when we arrived and in we went. I suspected it to be a lot bigger, but even the size it is, it’s a nice shop, very light and airy and lots of stuff to find.

We saw a lot of fun items of merchandise, but decided to shop on the way back. It was now time to finally make our way over to the parks.
So we joined the masses and walked over to the Disneyland Hotel and the side entrance to the park.

So breakfast comes with the room? I wish that WDW resorts came with breakfast. That is one thing I have always found strange since so many hotels offer breakfast with the room.

I love your pictures. Although it looks cold it looks amazing! I really hope to someday go to DLRP.
