If they stop letting people in.....

I understand that on really busy days the MK will stop admitting new guests to the park. The question is: As the park begins to empty, say towards evening, do they start to let people enter again.

The reason I ask is that the MK is open till 3AM on Christmas. We were going to avoid the park all day till about 8 or 9 at night and then try to get in.

Will we be able to get in? :confused3

We went to EPCOT on the 4th of July and there were signs saying that MK and MGM were closed. I honestly doubt they would open the park again if it got empty. I'm not sure, but I wouldn't chance not being able to get in.

Actually, they WILL reopen the park if enough people leave. The year we were at Epcot on NYE, a huge amount of people left after the first showing of Illuminations. I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens at MK after fireworks or a parade, especially if there are two showings. I'd check the schedule and plan to time arrival for between the two. That said, don't be disappointed if it doesn't happen. A lot of people are in it for the long haul on those days, especially at MK.

OK That's 1 YES and 1 NO............ Anyone else have experience with this?

Once the crowds get back to a certain level, they WILL open the park back up to new arrivals. We've experienced this in the past. Also, don't forget that from Midnight - 3 am, the park will only be open to onsite guests (EMH), limiting the number of people who are trying to get in /remain at the park. :flower:

Also, this is only an issue if you're staying off site. If you're staying on site, you have guaranteed admission.

Once the park reaches capacity, NO-ONE is allowed entry whether a resort guest or a day guest. It's an insurance issue. We saw this happen on NYE a few years back.

If a park is closed to capcity, it is closed to ANYONE, even those staying on site.

As an onsite guest you are guaranteed admittance to A PARK but it may not be the park you wanted to go to.

Hm....I am not sure about this at all, so I can't give a yes or no.

But I CAN say that I definitly wouldn't take the chance of not being able to get in.

Definitely NOT true. Last year during Christmas week there were several times where the parks were closed to ALL guests - including onsite.

Disney has three levels for admitance

Level 1: Open to all guests

Level 2: Closed to off site quests [parking lots will be closed] but open to on site quests [thru Disney trans only]. Be prepared to show your resort I.D. before boarding transportation.

Level 3: Closed to all, on and off site.

As said by another poster Disney guarantees admission to at least 1 park will be available to all on site guests during posted operating hours.

You're guaranteed admission to A park. Not necessarily the one you want.

Easter Tuesday 2003, Park closed at 1:00 p.m. at MK. Park opened at 5:30 PM.

The Sunday we were there in April, MK closed for a while...I'm not exactly sure for how long, we left due to the crowds...but when we returned in the evening, they were letting people in again. Of course, it was impossible to go on any rides as there were no more FP and all the lines were over an hour long. We were just there to see Spectromagic and Wishes, though, so it didn't matter.

So to answer your question -- yes, if enough people leave, they will reopen the park.

Good luck!

Wait I have a question no to go OT but is the 12am to 3am just for resort guests?

If this is listed as EMH hours with a park closing of midnight the extra 3 hours are just for Disney resort guests. You will have to show your resort I.D. [key card] to get the special EMH wrist band.

Added

you will need one resort I.D. per person not 1 per group.

Okay, so here's my scenerio. We'll be spending Christmas day "out of the parks" except for Mass at the Contemporary (if they offer it there as they did last year) in the morning, and we have a 1:15pm reservation for Christmas dinner at Alfredo's in Epcot. What happens if they close Epcot before our dinner ressie? Do they let you in if you have ressies? Thanks! :earsgirl:

I know....I'm nervous. We have an 8pm ADR for Cinderella's Royal Table on Christmas Day. I'm going to be PEEVED if we have to eat dinner at the food court at our hotel.

We were there last year between Christmas and New Years and saw the parks (particularly the MK) open and close throughout the day.

We planned to be there for NYE a few years ago but wound up at Sea World instead when all of the parks except the Animal Kingdom were closed well before lunch. We had been told by a CM that we could easily get into MGM until pretty late in the day and probably Epcot late morning, but he was wrong on both counts.
