If the 2016 Halloween parties move to DCA is that good or bad?

We've only been to the Halloween parties in Disneyland and really enjoyed them. I know there's speculation that the parties would move to DCA in 2016 due to closures and SWL construction. IF this moves happens, what does it mean? What are your opinions/experiences with past parties at DCA? I'm just curious because we are planning to go again in 2016. Thanks for your input!

I think I am the main one who has speculated about it so far, because certain circumstances may lend themselves to that scenario taking place down the road (if not in 2016, then maybe in 2017). I have not seen anyone else here speculating about it too much because we barely just got started with the current Halloween Time season and Halloween Party -- but, then again, I am knee-deep in all things Halloween Time and the holidays all year long, and I like to look ahead to what could happen way down the road, assessing all possibilities! :lmao:

The parties at DCA in the past were fine -- they were fun. If the parties move back there again they will be very different -- probably not like they were in the pre-2010 days. I'm sure there would be some sort of Halloween World of Color -- which did not exist back in 2009.

I would stay tuned to the Halloween Time at DLR Superthread next year as we analyze any little details that come in, which may inform us as to what could happen. Right now, honestly, it's way, way, way too early to know what could happen next year -- if anything changes at all. Last year someone reported on another site that the parties were moving to DCA this year -- and that didn't happen. Anything could change between now and Halloween Time of 2016.

We've been to a Halloween Party in DCA and it was nice - less crowded because the paths are all so much wider, so more flow, and it was nice to have that park decorated too. I guess there would be no fireworks but if the had a Halloween WoC instead, that really wouldn't matter!

I just wish they would put some Halloween decorations in DCA, to start, any ideas why they dont do that?

Not a clue. There used to be decorations in DCA -- a whole Candy Corn Acres area, with candy corn 'growing' from plants and hanging from trees. There was even a Candy Corn 'factory' sort of set-up. Heimlich would appear at random intervals above the "bite" taken out of a giant candy corn photo spot. There was also theme-appropriate music, such as "Monster Mash" and "Love Potion No. 9," blasting from the speakers just past the Golden Gate Bridge. The CALIFORNIA letters in front of DCA were candy corn-colored.

Ever since the party moved to DL in 2010, it's like DCA became almost completely disconnected from the Halloween Time season, with the exception of the Mad T Party's Halloween-themed set, which is not there this year. So the one reallllly good thing about a party moving back to DCA -- IF that ever happens -- would be a return of some actual décor to DCA!

Oh yeah... we saw that no band was playing this weekend, so are they done? Just DJs now?

I remember candy corn acres at DCA, and how there were a ton of decorations which was great. I can honestly say that the vibe was more upbeat, and my Husband and I had seemed to have more fun. I would love for the party to return and being able to have a adult beverage is a bonus.

I remember before Cars Land opened, I read an interview where someone said they already had great Halloween and Christmas decorations ready to install. Well, Christmas materialized right away but Haloween never did. If that was in fact true, I'd sure like to see them.

The Mad T Party band is still scheduled to perform on Fri, Sat, and Sun evenings. The lack of the band on Saturday (at least that's when I stopped by) was not planned. One of the performers posted on his FB page that the band would not be performing on Saturday, but didn't give a specific reason. Another performer said that the Band would perform on Sunday, so the guess is that there was some kind of illness running through the performers so they couldn't pull together enough people to perform on Saturday.

Yes, we found it very strange they did not perform on a Saturday, thanks for the info.

I went every year to the Halloween party once it started. I stopped after the first year they switched it to Disneyland. It just seemed like a much more party-like atmosphere at DCA. The music, decorations, characters, everything was so festive! And it did seem less crowded. I would love it if returned to DCA and would start going again!
