I think I read it somewhere a long time ago that if you stay at a Disney hotel you can make purchases in the park and they will hold them for you and get them to your room for you? We are staying at the Grand and wanted to use this option if it exists lol.
Now I am thinking this may only be a perk if you stay concierge?
Anyone know? I would love to not carry around our purchases all day. I know I can just run them back to the room, but just wanted to know :)

Any guest can do it. You have to pick it up from the Bell Hop, and its not available until the next day.

Staying at all the Disney Hotels, you will have this option if you want it. When you purchase an item in one of the parks, simply tell the cashier you are a disney guest & would like it sent to your hotel. They will hand you a small form to fill out(name, hotel/tower name, room number, & tele number). The item can be picked up the next day at the concierge desk(check with the front desk when you check in for pick up point at your location). The service has always been free to disney guests in the past, but I would inquire at check in to verify this. Disney is now charging for a lot of extras that used to be complimentary. If I pick up the item, I usually provide a tip(DL employees are not the highest paid people in southern california) and let them know I appreciate the service. This is a great service, in my humble opinion. It sure is a lot better than having to carry bags in the park or all the way back to the hotel. :)

I just did this last week and it worked out perfectly!! I bought a lot of Christmas gifts for the kids, and it was so great not to have to take so many bags back to the hotel room!! Oh, and it's still free!

I'm curious to here what they are charging for now that they weren't before. I know they charge for parking (used to be included in resort fee) but they've stopped charging the resort fee...so if you don't have a car you are paying less and if you do you are only paying $3/day more since the parking fee went up.

Gina 421: glad to hear they still provide the service and it is free. It is great!
3Minnies: $3 more? try $15. It went from free parking to $15 per day. That adds up when you multiply it by seven. We book basically the same trip every time, the last trip cost over $800 more than usual. As I stated on another post, the last trip was still fun. Had some great food, good times and fun with my family. Just enough rude CMs, bad food, and little things to make me think about how much we are spending to be there. The last trip, the wife went to city hall twice to complain about things. She never complains, she is usually so PC, it's funny. No, we do not go during the summer or holidays. I do hope it gets better:)

I would love to be able to stay here..just for a night to see what its like and get in early...just to pricey for me:sad2:

Be careful to make sure they give you all of your items. We used this service during our 2-night stay on-site (but at the Paradise Pier). So the items weren't ready for us until check-out day. We got behind schedule and were in a big hurry to get out the afternoon of check-out day, so Mom just took the bag they gave us without checking the contents.

A super-cute ornament (the purchase I was by far the most excited about) and two postcards were missing! Mom called the Paradise Pier as soon as we got home (it was pretty late, granted) and it took probably 5 minutes for her to get to someone who if I recall correctly said they'd call her back. Then when they called back, I had to read off the receipt numbers of all the missing items. They said they'd get back to me and called back the next day to say they'd found our items and would send them back. The items came about 5 days later, packed well enough that the ornament didn't get broken, but with no note or anything, just a copy of our receipt. I'm still not certain if the hotel lost the items, or if World of Disney did--I'm leaning toward the hotel, but I don't remember how bad the paintjobs were on the ornaments (I thought I'd picked out a better-painted one but maybe the one I'd picked out was the best of several poor ones). IF the bag was for whatever reason left behind at World of Disney, then I'm thinking that it could've easily been 30 minutes to an hour to resolve the problem, between all the conversations that would have had to occur and the time it would take to get the item or a replacement to the hotel lobby. If you're on a tight schedule that wouldn't work so well on check-out day.

Anyway, to to their credit, Disney DID take care of it in the end, and in fairness we SHOULD have checked our purchases before leaving Anaheim. (I fully intended to, but they loaded up the car and then I had to run Mom's ECV battery back to the lobby and we just didn't do it.) But still, I would not personally use this service during my last full day at the parks, unless you aren't going to be in the parks the next day and will make a leisurely exit from the hotel. Too much can go wrong and while Disney will probably try to get you your item, it's a pain for adults and I can't even imagine how upset kids would be if their beloved item didn't make it home with them.

We have always done this with no problems, but if leaving the next day you wouldnt want to chance it. However you can pick them up at guest services in the park on your way out.

Having never even been to California, I'm totally soaking up every little DL detail I can. Good to hear package delivery is also done at DL. At WDW resorts concierge level guests have package delivery to their rooms. Does anyone know if this is also the same at DL resorts? Just curious. Not sure where we'll stay when we go but it's neat to have all the little info bits down. Thanks! :)

It was not free parking. It was included in the resort fee, which everyone paid. Now there is no more extra resort fee, so if you ever have a trip without a car, you won't have to include that extra money in your budget.

I believe they ask you when you are leaving, and simply won't let you do it if you are leaving the next day.

Heck, I tried to do it once at WDW and they said it was too late in the *day* to do it, as it wouldn't get out of the park on time! Strict.

They allowed us to do this on 11/28/11 at 11:29 AM when we were checking out of the Paradise Pier on 11/29/11. Unlike WDW, enough people do 2-day stays at Disneyland hotels, I think they'd probably get complaints if they offered a "service" that many guests could never even use. (Plus the distance from the shops to the hotels at DL is very short.)

The receipt says "Resort Hotel packages will be available at the bell desk after 7 a.m. the NEXT DAY from the date of purchase." (their emphasis)

Again, I would not really recommend doing this day before check-out, based on my experiences, unless you're not visiting the parks on check-out day. But you CAN.
