IF Staying at Park Vue Inn (PVI) You May Want To Read This

Thank you for the review. I have changed to FFI and saved over $120.

 OMG Jack! I can't even believe that!! I am all vicariously itchy for your family now. barf. Give em hell Jack!!

What is PVI? No offense but the gratuitous use of acronyms on this site are annoying. Have we really gotten to the point where typing the entire name is too much of an annoyance?

Anyway, I just want to know what PVI stands for. Thanks. :)

If you read this last page, you would see that your question has been answered twice already - PVI is PARK VUE INN.

It wouldn't matter now if people just stopped using acronyms for every little thing. I feel like I'm a detective searching for the one clue that could break the case wide open when it comes to trying to understand what the heck people are talking about.

I just did a test and typing Disneyland versus DL only saved me a few seconds.

Anyway, sorry for the hijack.

I understand that being a newbie on these boards can be a little confusing at times with all the abbreviations...but for the people who do a lot of posting....typing out MNSSHP instead of Mickey's not so scary Halloween party is just waaaaaaaaay easier.
You may want to print this out to help you.

there is no hotel anywhere in the world, including Disneyworld itselt and official DL hotels that are exempt from bedbugs or cockroaches. What is upsetting is the hotel's reaction.

A little persepective goes a long way.

The thing that made me uneasy, and decide to cancel our reservation was that in various different poor reviews, the common theme was that PVI had very poor customer service if anything went wrong. Who wants to take that risk?

Thanks Jack. We were going to stay at the PVI for one night so I could check in early at GCV.I managed to rent points for that night now. Thanks for the heads up.:thumbsup2

As my husband just said to me relax. Even Disney hotels have problems and people have had bad customer service. I'll hold onto my reservation for now and I booked the candy cane inn as a backup. But it's almost double the price.

I don't care for bedbugregistry.com. Any hotel can have bed bugs. It is how they handle it. Disneyland Hotel has also had some bad responses to their reposts, such as people stating they were told the hotel was full, so they just had to stay in their room, despite the bugs...

I will be interested in seeing the motels response to this incident.

Keep us posted Jack. It's shocking to hear of a bed bug report from someone we see so often on the boards. Makes it all too real. I guess going to a hotel is like playing the lottery and eventually we may run into an unacceptable room. The part that is hard to take is the poor reaction by the hotel. Are they a "good neighbor"?

I have found plenty of negative reviews on Trip Advisor, so I'm surprised to hear that negative reviews are removed? Go look for a hotel in Orlando and you'll find tons of negative reviews.

Fight the good fight Jack!

Yeah, I am not so concerned about having the bedbugs, (I mean, I AM - who wants bedbugs?) but I am very concerned about how a hotel resolves problems. I think that is the true tell - do they prize you as a customer or not?

As far as Disneyland Hotel, hell, if it was booked and a customer was complaining of bugs - I would put them in ANY empty room! I don't care if it was the best room in the house, I can't imagine those rooms were booked up, kwim?

you know, your post has me thinking...this is exactly what has been happening lately...if you comment any negative things in a blog or anything, they remove it...now i can understand if you are being obnoxious or argumentative or cursing but just voicing your opinion on something negative does NOT make it bad...how else are people supposed to know whats good and what isnt???? seems like we are going backwards instead of forwards with technology....i posted something on a Disney owned blog about an issue that I wasnt really happy about the other day...i wasnt being rude or anything..just voicing a concern about how things are going to be handled with the new way its being done and it was removed...

Yeah. I didn't curse at all and was very straightforward. We weren't hostile guests..I posted the fact that the front desk staff eventually SORTA tried to make it better. Honestly, no one would ever stay at this particular place if they'd been through what we went through. If I hadn't had my mother and small kids we would've gotten back in the car and driven all the way home (another 6 hours).

So I think it's because those sites still get compensation for stuff from the hotels themselves. Oh well. I hope no one stays at this one place. *gag*

So sorry to hear about this Jack, it can really ruin an entire trip. Now, yes any hotel can have a bed bug problem no matter how many stars they have.

Having said, as other's have said, it is how managment handles it that matters.

Now, I hope that those who are going to cancell their ressies based upon this report, they call the hotel and tell them why they are cancelling. There is no incentive for management to change their behaviour unless they are told why.

Agreed!!

FWIW (for what its worth ;)) I doubt you will have much luck changing the culture around here or on any online forum that uses lots of abbreviations - which is just about all of them.

As for me, there is no way I am going to type out "Pirates of the Caribbean" or "Its Tough To Be a Bug" or "Disneyland Resort" or "Disney California Adventure" over and over again. So I will use POTC, ITTBAB, DLR and DCA. :)

There is a comprehensive list of abbreviations in the sticky thread at the top of the forum for newbies. Here is a link:

And the tips are so invaluable to a great trip, I would never want you to stop because then you may post less and we would miss out on your wonderful wisdom. The abbreviations are a learning curve for newbies, but do worth the knowledge!

Why not? It's actually faster and your readers actually understand what you're saying. The human brain doesn't think in acronyms, it thinks in words that form sentences. It actually takes longer to think about the correct letters for the acronym the it does to type them, at least initially.

Anyway, I'm not trying to change the culture. It's just an annoying culture and not very user friendly.

Ps - I've read your articles and they are great. Keep up the great work. :)
