If staying at a value what dining plan?

We have free dining at the ASMU suites. It is the QSDP but we can upgrade for free since there is a pin attached to my name to the RDP. But we figure that would be around 240.00 for our 8 night stay in tips. Don't get me wrong it is still a deal. I also for some reason don't want to be stuck to ADR"S the entire trip either. We will still do t-rex once and Crystal Palce for breakfest. But I want to spend some time at the parks not wondering where we need to be next. I was just wondering what plan you are doing in why?

We had QSDP and was totally happy with that decision for all of the advantages you get...Then we got the dang PIN to upgrade! How can you not upgrade if its free and you've NEVER gotten any other pin??? We felt obligated to upgrade (I know...boo hoo...Someone's got to do it). Now we're stressed about "scheduling" and ADR's...ugh...makes me want to downgrade now!

If it were me, I'd upgrade -- why not? Think of it this way, even if you ONLY use it for the Pooh breakfast at CP, that's a free meal! No rule saying you HAVE to use all the credits! PLUS, you have the option of trying to walk-up if you feel like a TS, or check in the am with the front-desk concierge to see if there's anything you might be interested in that night (or morning, or lunch!).

You have nothing to lose, IMHO!

I would upgrade. Tips aren't that much considering the upgrade is free. If you don't want to use all of meal credits, then don't use them. I have heard you can convert them to counterservice if necessary. I haven't personally tried that so don't quote me on it.

That's a good point about not using the TS credits, but then they won't have the same number of snacks, CS credits, etc. It they're only going to use it for one TS, then I think they should just stick with what they've got and pay OOP for the one or two TS they want to do.

I got a FD DDP pin code before the general public was released and are staying at POP.
Me and DH like to sit down and eat while on vacation. It is a part of the over all experience for us.
So since we like to sit and eat somewhere every day it is cost effective (while staying onsite with no transportation) to use the DDP. DxDDP is too much food so the reg. one fits good.

I guess it just depends on what is more important to you and worth your while. If saving money and sitting down to eat once/twice a day is what you want then the plan is a benefit. If you feel tied down to much and it's unpleasent for you to do be somewhere at a certain time then it isn't for you.
I guess to me it is simple.........What do I want? It is MY vacation after all. To each his own I say!

Go and enjoy what is best for you! Have a magical time, that is what is important!

We are going in December and staying at Pop Century. There will be four adults going. We were all actually glad it was the QSDP that was offered. No we didnt upgrade (have never gotten a pin either). It had nothing to do with the cost of the upgrade (I think 10 per person per day) or the tip. It was just we wanted to go to disney and not have to worry about what time it was and making sure we didnt eat lunch to late to have room for supper. I have also read so many thread of people being disappointed about not getting the restaurants or times they wanted. I dont want to have to worry about making ADR, we just want a relaxing vacation and eat when we want. No schedule. Yes I have been to disney 6 times before and yes 3 of those time were on the regular dining Plan. This time we want to have a different experence so we chose the QSDP.
