If Song is history, why can I book a flight for Oct 2006?

Forgive my ignorance, but if Song is going under, why are they still accepting reservations for Oct 2006? I was browsing on www.itasoftware.com for a cheap flight for next Oct, and Delta has one for 176 NS BOS/MCO on Song. If I book this, am I out the money when they go belly up? I also have a flight through Delta using Canadair, booked before the bankruptcy, for April 2006. Where should I be looking for info on that flight? A little stressed about that one, too. TIA!

Song is not going belly up. Song was a division of Delta and they are handling the flights now.

Song is "history". It isn't "going under". That doesn't mean that Delta won't eventually go under, but that's a completely different story, and really: If United and US Airways didn't go under, why should Delta?

I thought that same thing. I see that the prices for song in august are the best. I want to book it but I am afraid to do so. Will I get my money back or will delta honor it?

If Delta is in business, they will honor Song tickets, no question.

I'm going to be booking for Oct also. I have no issue at all booking with Delta. I can't imagine them going out of business....no one else has, at least no airlines of this magnitude. I have found the same $175 r/t non-stop. I'm waiting to see what happens when JetBlue opens their schedule for Oct. Hopefully, Delta won't be a ton more at that time.

Thanks for the replies; I feel a little more comfortable with booking now--
Still, I may hold out for Allegiant Air out of Worcester for October-- if they keep their 59 each way that will be tough to beat. I just wish the return flights weren't so EARLY in the AM!

I would be more worried of someone like Allegiant Air going under then Delta. Also its not like song and it all its flights are going away, song is just being absorbed into delta. Eventually all cross country flights will be song product flights.

Song is not an airline. They don't even have an AOC (Air Operating Certificate) to qualify them as one.

Song is a brand-name that is placed on certain Delta flights between the Northeast, Florida, and the West Coast, the same way Delta flights from LaGuardia to Boston and Regan are branded as Delta Shuttle. Delta is simply getting rid of the Song brand name, nothing more. You'll be fine.

God, cause i got a good deal and got my Oct tickets trough them already. Was gonna wait for Jetblue, but I can never resist a bargain :rotfl:

Me too!
Took the plunge and booked the 176 NS BOS/MCO for Oct. With Allegiant, we would lose the whole day on Monday. Now we fly in LATE Thurs night (12:06 AM actually), and leave at 2 PM on Monday. Thanks for all the help! Now if I can only get DH to talk costumes :rotfl2:
