With our bellies full, compliments of the quick service dining plan, we start making our way to the park exit. Like I mentioned early, we planned to head back to CSR for some pool time, then back to Epcot for IllumiNations. Took some more pictures of the topiaries on the way out:
Of course, as we are passing by Spaceship Earth DD starts begging us to ride it before we go. Sure, why not? I tried to be funny... so here is my future:
DD really likes this ride. I guess I would say I am neutral about it. If it weren't for all the cool technology I'd said it a mediocre ride at best. The games at the end are totally cool. Nothing like a little "Power City" to get the blood flowing. That's the shuffleboard-style game where you have to slide power units to power your cities. Very cool.
It was time to head back to CSR, so out the front gate we go. I took a couple pictures on the way out... looks like a ghost town here:
And someone is being a little feisty while waiting for the bus...
Once back at CSR we spend some time playing around the main pool area. DD really wanted and needed to spend some quality time in the pool to burn off some energy. DW took this opportunity to get some hammock time in

Me... well I played in the pool of course!
After dinner we headed back to Epcot to catch IllumiNations. As we are walking towards the entrance, DD starts getting excited and yells "BUBBLES!". Huh? What is she talking about? She then starts running up ahead. That's when I notice a CM standing next to a bubble machine. DD LOVES bubbles. It's got water in it... of course she is going to like them! HAHA! Turns out the CM was there to ask the kids questions so they could "win" a bracelet. So DD played along... answered the question correctly... and got a bracelet:
And then it was bubble-playing time. No big deal... we weren't in a hurry at this time. It was only about 7pm... and the show starts at 9pm. Notice DD is carrying BOTH Webkinz she bought the day before. She didn't want them to miss the show that night!
And here's a video:
A few more pictures at the front of the park:
Since we had some time before the show, we paid a visit to one of my favorite spots in Epcot... the Imagination! pavilion. I wanted to see how Figment was doing. Poor guy. Not a lot a of people looking forward to spending time with him anymore. Here's DD playing around in ImageWorks:
We ended up picking an unusual spot to view the show. You may need to pull out your Epcot map to know where I'm talking about. As you are heading towards the lagoon there is a walkway on the left that takes you over the water. This path leads to the Odyssey Center. Just before you get to the center there is a length of railing that is the perfect angle to view the show. We chose this location because we thought it would be easier to beat the crowd on the way out. I did play around with the night settings on my camera and ended up with these two shots:
This one is looking down the metal railing:
Once the show started we began to quickly realize that seeing the action on the water from that vantage point was going to be difficult. We could make out parts of the "Earth"... but mostly we could only see the lights and fireworks in the air. And isn't that the best part anyway?
We all enjoyed the show and it was time to part ways from my favorite park. Getting out from that area was as easy as we thought it would be... but I won't be going to that spot again in the future. I like seeing the WHOLE show
Back to CSR and we retire for the evening. Sweet dreams as day 2 comes to an end.
Up next: Day 3, Part 1:
"Bad hair day..."
