If only Tinker Bell was related to the tooth fairy... (FINISHED 4/26)

Looks like someone's trying to finish a trip report before their next trip, huh?
I'll confess - I'm doing the same thing. But you had a 7 month head start!:rotfl2:

I know what you mean about the play ground equipment. We were there last March and my kids found the one they had set up behind MouseGears. It was like pulling teeth to get them out of there! We strategically blocked their view of the playground you guys got stuck at!

Guilty! :guilty: I believe I am going to need a miracle to get this one done, though! Nice update on your TR :thumbsup2

Unfortunately, my DD already has the place memorized and knows the locations. Wait... I take that back... that makes me a proud DIS Dad :thumbsup2

Sure you can do it. Just think of the little train going up the hill (my old age as Marv would tell you is preventing me from remembering the name of the cartoon) saying: "I think I can; I think I can."

With our bellies full, compliments of the quick service dining plan, we start making our way to the park exit. Like I mentioned early, we planned to head back to CSR for some pool time, then back to Epcot for IllumiNations. Took some more pictures of the topiaries on the way out:

Of course, as we are passing by Spaceship Earth DD starts begging us to ride it before we go. Sure, why not? I tried to be funny... so here is my future:

DD really likes this ride. I guess I would say I am neutral about it. If it weren't for all the cool technology I'd said it a mediocre ride at best. The games at the end are totally cool. Nothing like a little "Power City" to get the blood flowing. That's the shuffleboard-style game where you have to slide power units to power your cities. Very cool.

It was time to head back to CSR, so out the front gate we go. I took a couple pictures on the way out... looks like a ghost town here:

And someone is being a little feisty while waiting for the bus...

Once back at CSR we spend some time playing around the main pool area. DD really wanted and needed to spend some quality time in the pool to burn off some energy. DW took this opportunity to get some hammock time in :) Me... well I played in the pool of course!

After dinner we headed back to Epcot to catch IllumiNations. As we are walking towards the entrance, DD starts getting excited and yells "BUBBLES!". Huh? What is she talking about? She then starts running up ahead. That's when I notice a CM standing next to a bubble machine. DD LOVES bubbles. It's got water in it... of course she is going to like them! HAHA! Turns out the CM was there to ask the kids questions so they could "win" a bracelet. So DD played along... answered the question correctly... and got a bracelet:

And then it was bubble-playing time. No big deal... we weren't in a hurry at this time. It was only about 7pm... and the show starts at 9pm. Notice DD is carrying BOTH Webkinz she bought the day before. She didn't want them to miss the show that night!

And here's a video:

A few more pictures at the front of the park:

Since we had some time before the show, we paid a visit to one of my favorite spots in Epcot... the Imagination! pavilion. I wanted to see how Figment was doing. Poor guy. Not a lot a of people looking forward to spending time with him anymore. Here's DD playing around in ImageWorks:

We ended up picking an unusual spot to view the show. You may need to pull out your Epcot map to know where I'm talking about. As you are heading towards the lagoon there is a walkway on the left that takes you over the water. This path leads to the Odyssey Center. Just before you get to the center there is a length of railing that is the perfect angle to view the show. We chose this location because we thought it would be easier to beat the crowd on the way out. I did play around with the night settings on my camera and ended up with these two shots:

This one is looking down the metal railing:

Once the show started we began to quickly realize that seeing the action on the water from that vantage point was going to be difficult. We could make out parts of the "Earth"... but mostly we could only see the lights and fireworks in the air. And isn't that the best part anyway?

We all enjoyed the show and it was time to part ways from my favorite park. Getting out from that area was as easy as we thought it would be... but I won't be going to that spot again in the future. I like seeing the WHOLE show ;)

Back to CSR and we retire for the evening. Sweet dreams as day 2 comes to an end.

Up next: Day 3, Part 1: "Bad hair day..."

When I saw this picture, my first reaction was "Why did Don put an Ak pic there?" Those giraffe topiaries are very lifelike... amazing.

DD really likes this ride. I guess I would say I am neutral about it.
Yeah... not a bad ride, kind of relaxing but not one of my favorites. Still worth it to take a ride through the golfball though.:thumbsup2

It seems like it is always that way outside the front entrance of EPCOT during the day, no matter how busy the park is.

So DD played along... answered the question correctly... and got a bracelet:
Um.... is that a pink bracelet with hearts and a skull and crossbones???

I wanted to see how Figment was doing. Poor guy. Not a lot a of people looking forward to spending time with him anymore.
I love Figment... and miss Dreamfinder. The good thing about the fact that nobody likes that place anymore is that it is pretty much walk on.:thumbsup2

Woohoo!!! 2 days down thanks to the recent flurry of activity!

Great giraffe topiary--love it.

cute video.

Thanks for the heads up of NOT going to that spot for Illuminations (although we seem to miss Illuminations every year for the last four out of five trips).

Don completes 2nd day of TR.

Blanket orders soar in Hades.

I'm proud of you Don...this place is almost Cricket free after this week.

See those windows in the Giraffe pictures...and the Lion King...

That's my secret hiding place at Epcot.

My goodness, Don. My head is spinning. It's like you were living in a retirement community, driving golf carts around and playing shuffleboard. Then one day you come flying by in a new Ferrari getting ready for your skydiving lesson! Don't get me wrong, I love the frequency of the updates - how long can you keep it up?

Sneaky spot there with Illuminations. The fireworks are the best part, but the lower effects like the globe and colored fountains really make the show.

You should see them in real life! I can only imagine the amount of time they spend getting those things ready for the festival... then taking care of them during the length of the festival, too. It's amazing.

It is a nice place to go for air conditioning... :lmao:

::yes:: She still has it in her room, too... you know, for those loving pirate times :rolleyes1

I can understand why you'd miss the show. It's not on the same level of Wishes... but still a good show to see. Since you're cheating, you might as well see the show this year :thumbsup2

Ah ha! I was wondering about that! One day I'll get in there.... I want to change the floor color! :rotfl2:

I don't know.... this is keeeeling me! :rotfl2: I almost feel like... a writer! :rotfl:

Yeah... realized that after the show began :headache: Will have to do better this year... and since we're at BWV I should have several opportunities. :thumbsup2

WOW What a great finish to your Trip...your such an amazing story teller. :worship:

I can't believe you got this report finished. :worship:

Never shall I bring crickets over here again.

:lmao::lmao::lmao: You got me! Nice one, Nate!

I realized I hadn't commented on your latest chapter yet. So where is the best spot you've found to watch Illuminations so far?

And I kinda like the Big Golf Ball. I think it's mostly due to the way my kids giggle at the cartoons at the end.

Well... I've only seen the show twice with the family. The first time was much better. It was next to the boat launch by Mexico. Here's the view from my 2009 TR - Day 6, Part 4: "DD's first viewing of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth!"
Perhaps we'll try in from the other end of the lagoon this year :)

Oh yeah... That's DD's favorite part, too. Although the view of Earth at the top is rather spectacular too!

It was a dark and stormy night...

I was in Florida and missed this...good one, trennr!

So, do you think this is ever going to get done? Combined with the next one? In the next century?

 this thread poped up in my favs. i thought maybe we had an update.:lmao: i think he forgot what he did on the rest of the trip. :lmao:
