Nope. I inquired about using points for DH & myself & paying cash for DS. Their cash price for him was actually a couple hundred more than it would've been by booking on the
DCL website! The reason is because I was looking at booking EARLY - when the itineraries were just released. DCL prices are typically best when they're first announced - then they increase steadily over time - right up until the cruise date. They sometimes will increase some categories but not all at once - it depends on sales. As a cat. sells out they raise the price of that category. So the price that
DVC negotiates with DCL for cash ressies is not the rock bottom price, but rather is more like where the highest pp price will end up. It is a fixed price for the whole duration tho. If that makes sense to you.

DCL is not going to loose out on A PENNY, not even to DVC members.
We ended up just dropping down in categories enough that we could pay with points for all 3 of us. So no balcony on this one! We were able to snag one of the "secret porthole" rooms by booking at 16 months!

The cash price for our 4 n. cruise has gone up about $600 since we booked it with our points a year ago! We then booked the 3 n. cruise immediately after it in the same cabin (so we don't have to vacate the room) with a cash ressie (thru
Dreams Unlimited in order to get more onboard ship credit). That one has not gone up as much in price. I believe that the 3 n. ones don't sell out quite as fast and that the cash prices stay more even throughout the booking period.
