Anyone know the next time frame that isn't too bad crowd wise?

With the trip being a week out and rain showing most days, I am thinking we should start planning an alternative in case we need to cancel.

Socal has very nice weather. It's just unlucky that you picked a possibly rainy week.

For alternatives with low crowds you could go:
1 week later.
Mid April to late May.
Even the first week of June is good.

thanks. i figured it was my luck :) I seem to draw the rain sadly.
I'm hoping it still clears up and we don't have to move the trip but I wanted to have some idea of backups in case it doesn't.
thank you for those dates!

FWIW, this far out there was rain predicted for our trip in January. About 4 days before the forecast changed to slight chance of rain one day. By the time we went, it was sunny and in the 70s and 80s. So you never know!

I'm normally a big fan of the first week in March too because of the lack of crowds (and because it's my anniversary week). Unfortunately, we're not going to be able to go then, this year, so I'm replanning for the second week of May. All the Spring Breaks will be over by then, no one is on Summer vacation yet and it's after Mother's Day, so we'll miss anyone planning a trip for that too. My only reservation about it is that I'm hearing the POTC 4 premier will be happening the Saturday we're there and I'm wondering how badly that will affect our trip.

Watch out for April...Easter is late this year which means many kids may have late spring breaks and the last two weeks of April are black out dates for So Cal APs thus DLR must be expecting crowds.

Yes but speaking from our AP blockout experiences last year *4th of July weekend 7/3-7/6 and Thanksgiving weekend the actual day, Fri & Sat. all blockable APs were blocked on those dates* - I can say blockouts are great IMO ~ we had low crowds for both of our Holiday weekend visits last year. I'd not hesitate to visit on those days again *so long as APs are blocked :thumbsup2

Now I wouldn't think all holidays would be like this but these 2 *4th of July & Thanksgiving* non locals think "I wouldn't go then ~ it'll be too busy" or "We need/want to spend time with famiy".

Even if it rains, it is usually clear the next day or shortly thereafter... Rarely do they get multiple days of continuous rain!

Besides... nothing better than liquid sunshine to keep the locals away! :thumbsup2

This is what we are hoping happens. I have until wed to cancel so I can wait that long.

I really really don't want to change the plans so fingers crossed.

thanks everyone else for the dates and suggestions. I'll take a look and see...i wouldn't want to push it off too far though since we're all so looking forward to this and ready for it.

I assume you're flying ~ I wouldn't cancel airfare for any sort of weather DLR could experience.

we are but thankfully, we are flying southwest and we can change flights and only pay the difference if there is one so not a big deal since we won't lose much if anything (if the new dates cost more. but they may even cost less)

So when is Easter? I thought this year it was in March. I was rather figuring on visiting Dl 04/03 to the 8th.

Well that is the last time I look on line. Because one calender source stated March... :faint: Thank you for the replies.. now I need to look for a paper calender.
