If not Bucknell, what about Susquehanna?

Thank you JM4321 :) It's good to hear all sides. I was getting a little concerned about the negative reviews but have learned to take all opinions for what they are worth, opinions.

Very glad to hear about the medical center and internships there. I have to admit this was my biggest concern ~ that the area is so rural that there would be limited opportunities in her bio/neuro field. I'll have to research it a bit, thanks!

In fairness, I often forget that many people come from areas much more urban than what we are used to. DD is definately looking for a small-town feel and I like what you had to say about Lewisburg. Her favorite area right now is the western mass schools and there isn't much around there either lol. She is coming from very small schools and is really adverse to going anyplace too big. But, it is important that it NOT be a commuter school. One pp mentioned that some of these schools alot of students go home every weekend and I think that would be upsetting to her. Maybe that is the less prestigious schools that cater more to surrounding areas?

Well, Bucknell and Dickinson are her two favorites in the area so its good to hear the positives as well as the negatives...it gives me a little more research to do

Like I said, I didn't see the original Bucknell thread, but I'm suprised to hear it was negative. I
have two friends from HS who both went there and both loved it. And my overall impression is very positive - not a heavy commuter school, good academics without being crazy-hyper-competitive.
And if someone compared the weather there to East Lansing, I'm guessing they've never actually endured a mid-west winter.

IDK if I mentioned it, but DD has a friend who is about to start junior year at Muhlenberg, and he absolutely loves it. It's expensive, though!

A very good friend of my son's is starting at Muhlenberg this fall. He also has a good friend who will be a sophomore there. It is pricey, but they have a lot of money to give. His freshman friend got a great package and is attending for less than the cost of a state school.

My dd goes there- she'll be a sophomore this year too - and absolutely loves it. I second the big wallets they have there. She got a great package as a freshman, we hit some financial difficulties this past year and they added another grant onto her package thank goodness. If they want you, they will give you what you need.

The other advantage to Muhlenberg is that you get a small school atmosphere but Allentown is close enough to NYC and Philly that you can catch a bus on the weekends and be there in a couple hours. The bus terminal is about 5 to 10 minutes from campus.
