I know that as a mostly PC user, I would love to own a high end mac. But I always look at the price tag and decide that I don't want to spend the cash.

I NEVER buy anything for myself, ever. So, I got aggravated at my husband for blowing a good bit of money on trivial things and decided to buy something just for me. I splurged, big time, and bought myself an Apple desktop. I love my Apple. I have had it for four years and with very little maintenance, have not had so much as an error message. (I'd like to see a PC claim that :lmao: ).

As for your question, I will personally always use an Apple; but if the price were to come down, I'd also replace DH's desktop PC and DS's laptop with Apples.

If it cost less than 100% I would not think twice about buying and purchase it right away but unfortunately they are kinda pricey but well worth it for what you get.

I bought my son a mac for college this year and after seeing his mac compared to my toshiba, I really wanted one but they are soooo expensive. So I waited and now they have a special on amazon and the store where if you buy one for college, you get a free i touch $200+ value for free. I bought it on amazon since no tax so it cost me exactly $1199 and anyone can buy not just college students. To me that is a lot but I hope I made the right investment. It is a mac pro that I purchased. You will have to add both to your cart to see the discount. I think today is the last day.

:):)

BTW, my company gets a 6% or 8% discount depending on what we buy. Plus, I could drive to Delaware to buy it and save 6% tax. Still I think they are too expensive.

I do own a mac mini that I bought from someone at an awesome price, though. ( no, not stolen... the guy just hated it )

I probably would but I would most likely end up running windows on it.

Can't play Everquest 2 on a Mac. ;)

After our last desktop became infected despite a firewall & up to date virus protection. I bought a mac desktop. I had a discount from work & they also included a free printer. It was definitely an expense but it really is awesome.
We're very happy with it & don't miss the pc.

I'm on my Imac right now. I love it. It's like my little friend. It was a little weird getting used to at first- but now it's simple. Try it you'll like it! Mine isn't high end- but I LOVE not having a tower. Just a screen and my keyboard. Delightful!

Its funny you should post this. We were JUST at the mac store tonight at the mall and BOY do I wish we could get one of these babies! It was sweet. Of course, I went right to the Disboards on it:thumbsup2, and the screen was crystal clear and so big and wide. My husband, in the computer business said that is what we have to get next, he would love one. I was so far behind the times, that I was shocked that the whole computer was just in that one unit, I was like you gotta be kidding me!! How awesome is that.
We walked away saying...someday. We'd get one in a heartbeat.:thumbsup2

I just bought my DS a mac book pro for college. Gulp......It was pricey......

macs are worth every penny. They are virtually maintenance free. With PCs, we always had things go wrong.

People are forgetting that mac mini's are VERY comparable in price to desktop PCs.

Still, I'd pay the extra for a mac any day. The headaches you save are worth the price alone.

We've got FIVE macs in hour house at the moment. :) Two will probably get sold soon, but I don't think we'll have any trouble doing that.

There are other options for buying a mac at a lower cost. Check out craigslist. Or do what we do, and buy a refurb mac off their site. Most of those computers (and ipods) were part of big lots of computers some company bought and then returned to Apple because they ordered too many. Most of them have never even been out of the box. We've bought an imac ($700), an iPod touch ($200) and two 15.4 mac book pros ($1349 each) from the refurb store and are just as happy with them as we could be.

Nope- used one and did not like it-I would not buy it. My daughter has a PC because her school do not use macs so it would not be beneficial for her to have one when the schools use pc's.

Oh yeah.
I have a MacBook. Have had it for awhile. LOVE it.
Took some getting used to, but it is GREAT> I am not going back:cool1:

DD is going to get one next.
