"If lost" tags for kids?

Last time when went to WDW we saw a few kids who had little homemade tags pinned to their clothes that had some info in case the kids got lost or separated from their parents. I thought it was a great idea at the time but now I can't remember what those tags said.

Anyone know?

I suggest the pet tags (you can make them at many pet stores or even places like wal-mart).

You can put your child's name and your cell phone. Lace them into your child shoe lace. Also add any medical info. DGS- I add peanut allergy.

They also sell tatoos with your info made into them. Some people also just use a sharpie and write cell # on the kid.

I ordered "dog tags" from Artscow.com and I'm very happy with them. I have a picture of the 4 kids on one side and the words "My Mom" along with my cell number on the other. The tag is very smooth and comfortable to wear. We travel several times a year to visit family [6-14 hours away], and I'm usually by myself. These will get used for many years!

We ordered dog tags from dogtagsonline. They are not as fancy as the previous posters but they worked. Two tags are $6.99 and you can get different wording on each tag. We had the kids names, if lost call - then listed my cell with my name, DH cell & name and Grandma's cell & name.

I made a beaded necklace with my cell phone number out of those tiny alphabet/number beads. I like these other ideas better b/c they are more visable. My DD was 4 so if lost, she would have been able to point out her necklace to a CM.

I ordered custom rubber bracelets from shanrene.com

They were $2.99 each . I ordered Tuesday and they came in the mail Saturday.

my daughter has Aspergers and is VERY shy although she is 7. What we did the last time we went is in Walmart/Target in the party section they had wide bracelets in diffrent fun colors. ours have snaps on them. on the inside i wrote with a sharpee marker my cell #, Dad's cell # and grams #'s ( she wasent with us ) just in case she got lost. I told her if she got lost go to s cast memeber and take it off and hand it to them .her older Sister who is 13 wanted to wear one also because they looked "Cool" She never got lost TG and we have been to Disney Zillions of times but this was the first without "Strollie" her stroller ( yes she named it! ) anyways we are going again Sat/ Sun for Mothers Day and now she has a medic alert bracelet for heart condition / asthma so if she gets lost she can show them that and they can call the 800# and get our information .. medic alerts cost i think it was $40 for 3 years. they have a childrens plan. you can look it up online.

We use "Who's Shoes" ID tags that velcro on to any shoe. They can't fall off, and DDs name does not show so a stranger can't read it and come up to her like he/she knows her.

That's where I got mine as well. Put the kids name, our reservation number, and 2 phone numbers on it. Took about a week and they came in the mail.

My DH makes "business cards" that we then laminate and put on lanyards for the kids. It has their name, our name, our cell and the resort where we are staying....we also put a picture of the child....this has worked great. Our kids are older now, but they always want their "ids" before we go

We made dog tags from a machine at Walmart and put them on a necklace. They usually have at least one Disney themed tag to choose from. I put mom's cell, dad's cell and grandma's home phone ( I figure if they don't get us on our cells, grandma could at least calm her down--help to track us down by providing our names, hotel, etc.)

Something I wanted to mention seeing we are talking about "Lost kids" is i take a pic of the kids right when they get out of the SUV. I use both my cell phone and digital camera. that way i have an instant reminder of what they looked like and what they were wearing. We have never lost a kid TG ( few times we wanted to toss them over on jungle cruise but thats a diffrent story!) but i think it would be helpful to have it if needed to refer back to. I also take a pic of where we parked because my memory gets a little fuzzy lol

I was reading through all the posts to see if anyone had posted this. I plan on using these. I think my DD would get tired of a bracelet or a necklace or anything like that.

If a child gets lost, do CM's know to look for info on the child?

I was thinking of a dog tag and pinning it to the back of his pants.

But, he's only 2. As much as I tell him to look for a CM I don't think he'll really be able to tell a CM apart from anyone else (especially a bunch of people wearing Mickey shirts).

As far as I know the CMs are trained to look for ID, esp. on a younger child.

I have always told my DD who has autism to look for a police officer or another mom with children to help her.
