If I was wrong, sorry. If I wasn't, I hope someone got something from it.

So, today in a fun afternoon of pirates, something took a bad turn. I am not sure if I was wrong or not, but if I was, I will own up to it and would like to apologize.

So you know if this is directed towards you...
While getting a pirate game lined up, a guest was asked me to boot someone (who happened to be a friend) so that they teams would be even and we could start the game.

We all gave a very nice and polite lesson to this Guest about the rudeness behind booting and that it would not hurt anyone to wait just a few more minutes for another player to join. Soon, our little game was on it's way.

In the next game, one friend of mine got the boot from another friend so that the game would be even players and could begin.

If you were in that game with me, you know what happened next. There is really no need to rehash it here, but I believe everyone in that game was DIS, so someone on those 2 boats will most likely read this.

If I was out of line for my statements that followed, I would like to apologize. I am truly sorry if what I said was wrong and I hope that my apology is accepted.

I still firmly believe that booting people so that we can start a game sooner (not to mention, booting other friends), is not in the spirit of fun. We had just explained to a Guest why we would not do this very same thing. Why was it ok this time? Anyway - I hold true to my beliefs on the issue, but if I "went off" a bit much, I am sorry. If anything I said helps make Pirates friendlier in the future, then I am glad I said it all.

If you were on those 2 boats, thanks for reading this and understanding my frustration with the actions at that moment. I'm big enough to say it, if I was wrong, sorry.

Here's to fun on the seas - without the boots,
Disney Dreams

It was not me but I sometimes boot ppl to make it even like My brothers computer lags when i play 4 on 4 so I say two on two only and boot the ppl not even but then they join again

I was not on either on the two sides or in the game you are referring too.

But I do want to say something about BOOTing......

It is NOT always the case that someone gets the boot because you need to make the teams even.

Since last week when VMK did an upgrade(if that is what you want to call their tinkering with the game) I have had to boot people from games just so I can play with out crashing. I HATE doing this, yes I used the word HATE.

It is though a necessity that I do it because I can not longer play games with more than 6 people in them and 6 is pushing it, In a game with 6 players my game freezes and lags most of the time.

I actually do best now with a 4 player game.

I do try and tell everyone I am playing with that I am sorry I have to boot and why. But still people will keep joining until I just have to close the game and start over.

Again I do not do this to be mean or by choice but if I want to play pirates I must.

So if you find yourself in a game with me and I say sorry I must boot or crash.

I am truly sorry

Once i tried to play pirates and the game was uneven so somebody told the person to boot me so I got boot. When the game was uneven after i got boot the person who told the owner of the game to boot me got boot. He got mad for I could have joined again and make it even so he started calling me bad names...Why can't they add a computer player? They have computer players for a reason.

This was NOT a matter of the game crashing with a certain amount of players, but a matter of booting people who want to enjoy a game of pirates just to make the game start quicker. Instead of booting me they could have added a computer player.

I'm sorry, but I don't see anything wrong with using the boot button for any of the above reasons. Making the teams even, to play with friends or to make sure your computer doesn't crash. I get booted every so often and I don't take it personally, why should I? Just join or start another game. :confused3 The boot button was put there for us to use, however we choose to use it, thats how I see it. :)

Oh, and I wasn't in your pirates game today either, haven't been in one for a few days actually, just putting in my unsolicited 2 cents. :rotfl:

I agree to an extent. If someone can't play with more than four players that is understandable. The problem I have is when it is for other reasons. My daughter has been trying to get past the Pirate part on two of her quests. Last night she tried many Pirate games and every time she signed up, she was booted. After about 30 minutes of this she was pretty upset and just gave up. She hasn't really wanted to even go on VMK today. I think it is nice for Mal to let others know why they are being booted. Sometimes though, there are games open and people keep them open even after they have booted you. If they are waiting on friends, you would think the friends would be in the same room already to join.

When ever you see my light on PM me I would be happy to help your daughter complete her quest. :thumbsup2

This goes for anyone on the DIS.

I found myself saying something to this effect about something technically wrong with VMK this past weekend. We all HATE using this word, but there are points where we HATE things that happen, but never should we HATE other people. :thumbsup2

Totally agree with that, and if I have to boot people because I'm playing with or helping friends with quest, I always tell people that. For some reason they often continue to join back after I boot them, even when I keep telling them I'm keeping the game to a small number. I usually TRY to go to an empty lobby for those type of games too, though the lobbys fill up fast.
I'm so sorry to hear your daughter got so frustrated though, I feel that pain all too well. When the game starts to frustrate me, I usually just quit it for a while too. Sometimes I really wonder if VMK truly considers their younger players when designing some of these quest and games.

Thanks Tigress:) I think it is going to come down to getting help from others. I certainly can't help her. Next time she is on, we'll look and see if you are on. I really appreciate your offer.

I don't like being booted while waiting for a game so the teams will be even. I like playing ships with more players 'cause I think you get more credits if you win. I like waiting for the game to be full of players, but I think I must be one of the few that do. :confused3 (I haven't played much, yet, since the upgrade so I don't know if more players will be different for my computer now)

I don't mind helping people playing games for a quest, either. Sometimes, if I am passing through a room, and someone says they need players to finish thier quest, I will stop and play so they can move on. Don't hesitate to speak up and let the people in the room know you need someone playing to complete your quest. :goodvibes

I have been watching this thread and decided to say something about this. I feel that Disney Dreams posted here as an apology and not to open this up as a debate as to if you agree with booting or not.
It takes alot to admit that you were wrong and I think that we should all just take this as an apology and not debate the topic any further on this thread.
:goodvibes Hugs to you Dreams, I too have spoken things that I regret later for in fear of upsetting friends. It is great you apologized.
Lady :)

As was mentioned above, this was not to open a debate about booting, but rather my way of addressing a situation that occurred with 7 other players, the majority of whom were DIS, which I felt badly about after it happened.

Most of the seven involved have since this by now, as I have either received notes or been told directly that in fact it seems my carefully chosen words, although very heated, were perfectly appropriate given the specific order of events that occurred. Thanks to those of you onboard the boat that day that read this and then made the time to find me to let me know that "little Jegrezo" was actually right on target! I appreciate it.

Mods, please close this thread. It has served it's purpose of reaching those involved. Thanks! :)

Thanks Lady for bringing this up. I apologize if it seemed as though I was debating and possibly minimizing the intent of this thread. I usually find it helpful to hear others point of view and different strategies in playing the mini games within vmk. Sometimes understanding another point of view can be helpful in bringing to light things someone else might not have thought of, such as someone with a slow computer only being able to play up to four players in a game.

I've never found Jegrezo to be anything but a polite, helpful and caring player. Her apology here just goes to show what a class act she is! :goodvibes
