If I switch a AAA rate to APH, will I loose my Gold level upgrade?

New to gold :goodvibes - if the APH rates (if there are any!) are lower than the AAA I have booked and I switch, will I loose my guaranteed upgrade to a deluxe room? I know I'll loose my check-in gift, but I really wanted the extra space.

Strictly speaking you should lose all perks or upgrades asscoiated with the loews first card (blue/gold/plat)when you get a discounted rate (except AAA). Thats not to say it doesn't happen. There have been plenty of reports on these boards from people who have had upgrades and gifts on heavely discounted rates like the ENT rate etc. It is usually up to the discretion of the person checking you in.

I have just checked a rate for September at the HRH:
Standard Rate- $234 garden view
AAA rate - $183.20 garden view
APH rate - $206.10 garden view

As you can see the AAA rate is cheaper than the APH rate. The APH discount is 10% and the AAA rate is nearly 20%. I would stick with the AAA rate and keep the loews perks.

Here is another example: May 3 -- HRH -- $234 for the AAA rate but it is $159 for the APH rate. So it all depends.

But to answer your question, yes I would imagine you would lose your upgrade(which should already have been assigned to you at booking with your Loews and AAA).

The answer is yes. I am booked at the HRH April 30-May 5 with the stay 4 play free promo. When I saw what the AP rates were I called and asked if I changed my ressie would I loose the upgrade (I'm Loews Platinum) and they told me yes. This is DH and my 1st ever trip without the kids and I thought the upgrade to the deluxe suite would be a treat.

Thanks, everyone - I'll probably hold onto AAA for the room with the upgrade and watch for APH rate for the 2nd room (if it goes lower than the AAA).

damo - yes, the upgrade was even noted on my confirmation e-mail!

Tay N Evies mom - we stayed in a kids suite in Jan and the King room was what I imagine the deluxe rooms are like - King bed on one side of a huge room, pull out sofa/chair/tv/stereo area on the other side. DH and I loved having the 'living room' area to hang out in and watch tv, read, etc . . . more comfortable than always sitting on a bed !
