can I return it in the store if I find it somewhere else cheaper?

Has anyone had experience doing this?

Just curious.

Nope they do not accept online purchases as returns in stores. I refuse to shop there because I think thier policies just rot!

They allow it Canada (or, at least, they did last Christmas when I did it). Actually, I did a price adjustment because they went on sale in the store and then returned it because my nephew got two of them for Christmas.

My SIL just tried to do this today. They offered her a store credit, but would not refund her credit card. She was instructed to contact TRU online, and they would email her a prepaid shipping label to send it back for no cost.

Well, in the past, they haven't always given you what you paid, EVEN with the receipt. BUT, I see there is a lawsuit against them now fr this very reason, so maybe its changed??

They DO allow returns but it will be in merchandise credit. Reason being is because they don't have your payment information all they have is the amount you paid. Also it used to only be a 30 return period for online merchandise but now it's 90 days like in the store(there are exceptions like video games, etc.)

This is good to know. I tend not to shop from them online because of their shipping fees - but I've been writing to customer service about their return policies anyway. I don't get why they make it so difficult when it should be so straightforward.

We had some stuff that were gifts and we didn't have a problem with it. The order form shipping label actually said to return it to the store. We did get store credit, which obviously we expected to get anyway, as it was a gift. We turned around and let the girls pick something more age appropriate.

I think one of the reasons they make it so difficult is because they offer products online that they do not offer in the stores. Last year I was on the hunt for a toy for youngest DS. It was out of stock/discontinued everywhere except Toys R Us online - I asked at the store and was told that that happens a lot. There were other toys that I was looking for that were also online and not in the store and no, I'm not talking Zhuzhu's . I was able to return my stuff there but it was a big hassle and the guy did put my refund on a gift card, but since it was after christmas and I had other stuff to buy for oldest DS' birthday it wasn't as big a deal for me.

Did anyone else just this week get the email about the lawsuit? You are entitled to $5-WOW! ;)-if you fill in the info about having returned something in store and not gotten full credit due on your online purchase. I didn't mess with it, but it is a settlement. It may have been $5 off of 20 or something now that I'm thinking about it. Not really a big deal, IMO-let me see if I can copy it here.
