the discount only applies to the room, correct? Can I then buy the dining plan seperately? (I know I can buy the MYW tix seperately, but can I buy the Magic your way plus dining seperately?)

We're thinking of joining AAA to get the discount. thanks.

No you can't do that. You need to have a package in order to get the dining plan.

so is the savings worth it? Meaning, if I JUST get the room, and apply the AAA discount, and then we just buy our food without the MYW Dining Plan, will the savings just even out over a 7 day stay? We're staying at a deluxe resort, so our savings with the 15% aaa discount would be about 300 bucks.

thanks for any advice.

Through AAA you can book:

A room only
A package with a room and MYW tickets
A package with a room and MYW tickets and dining

You can book those at rack rates or with a AAA discount when they have a discount available.
Hope this helps!

If I recall correctly, you can purchase the package with any options with the AAA discount but you have to book through AAA. If you want to book through Disneyworld you have to book separately the room and the other options. It is probably still worth it either way. We are renewing our AAA memebership today to get the discount and booking through a AAA agent.

In my opinion, it's not worth it. I've checked, it would save about 500 dollars for us, but, we would not have control of our reservation booking through AAA, we don't use the dining plan. I think it's more of a hassle. I like to call Disney, make my ressie, and be able to change or check something with Disney if I need to. Also, if there is a problem, I don't have to deal with a third party. Just my two cents! Good luck with your decision.

That's interesting. Can you do your dinner reservations through Disney or do you need to use AAA for that. I thought I used AAA for my last trip but now I recall booking directly to get free dining (we went August 2006). Still, $500 might be worth the hassle for a lot of us.

You can book a room only ressie with a AAA discount through CRO. You only need to go through AAA if you want a package, with or without dining. When you call CRO just ask if there is a AAA discount available for your room. Whether it is a good deal for you to go without the dining plan depends on where and what you want to eat. Think about this, if Disney was losing money on the dining plan they wouldn't offer it. I would go for the discount on the room.

You make your dinner reservations through Disney. They don't care who you book your package with. They only ask which resort you're staying at and a contact phone number.

Also the main reason to join AAA is for the road service not the hotel discounts, the discounts are fine, we also get 10% off at CVS on all perscriptions etc. as well. and many other discounts but that is not the reason to get it.
You can however book a full package with AAA but as stated you then give up control of the reservation but you can still make all your own ADRs etc. of course if you book a AAA package you get it the diamond parking pass as well.
Trouble is that sometimes you book AAA rate then a better code comes out, but you can call AAA and have them apply the code instead of the AAA discount.

We just booked our trip for May 08 through AAA and to my understanding you can change your resort etc. as long as your trip isn't paid in full. The lady that booked my trip said that if a code came out that she could apply it but it had to be on a package not just room only.

We did the room, dining, and ticket package. So far I am happy with my choice.

I have purchased my Disney tickets through AAA and I have gotten a discount. That reminds me I have to go get mine now for the end of November. :)

Ok. So another question - I know I can get a AAA discount on my room (if available) just by calling a Disney CRO instead of going through AAA. I did that several years ago at the Poly. But, can I get ticket and dining plan discounts with a AAA membership by calling Disney as well.

All this talk of loss of control of your own vacation reservation by booking through a AAA agent instead of on your own has me thinking. I'm trying to figure out if I can get the same AAA discount benefits on my own by booking a package through Disney instead of through AAA. Can I?
