I am thinking of getting a dining plan for the 1st part of our split stay. If I have an extra credit can I give it to someone? Or is this a no. No?

Until now, you could not use credits to pay for other peoples meals. That may have changed recently, but we really do not know for sure, and will not know until people who have tried to do so report back. Until they can confirm that indeed, TS credits are simply that, credits to be used as you wish, I would plan on paying OOP for your guest.

You cannot transfer a credit to someone else. If they are dining with you, it is possible that the rules have changed to allow you to use your extra credit to pay for their meal, but as Nancyg56 said we do not know for sure. There has been no official confirmation and the 2015 brochure still says "You may not redeem meals or snacks for any Guests who are not on your Disney Dining Plan."

We had a man on our first day at CS ask if he could by our breakfast as he had extra and was leaving after his breakfast, had no problem doing it right in front of the counter person checking us out

I have seen reports of individual CMs allowing things like this before, but it should be viewed as pixiedust: (pixie dust), not something to be expected, until there is some confirmation that credits may be used for those not on your plan. Was this experience in June after the rumored dining plan changes? In any case, the man was not able to "give" them to you; he was allowed to pay for your meals himself.

I think this is the key. The credits are not transferable, so if we can "share" them we are going to have to use them to pay for a meal, not Give them to someone. I doubt Disney will ever budge on transferring credits to others.
