If I have an annual pass I can't get free dining, right?

In order to get the free dining offer you have to buy regular tickets, is that correct? Any way around this?
There is no way around it. You must purchase tickets as a part of the Free Dining package. You can continue to use your AP and save those tickets for another visit.

Can they be transferred to other people? For example, when my parents come to visit can they use them?
Maybe.

Disney will be adding the tickets to your Magic Bands in the future. So, when you book a package, the tickets are placed directly on those bands. I think is going to become more difficult to give unused tickets to other people once they begin using Magic Bands.

There is no requirement to use magic bands.

Tickets are not transferable. We have booked free dining in the past and saved the tickets for later and upgraded them to our AP renewal.

That's only true after they've been used the first time though, right? So a ticket that has never been used should be able to be given to anyone because no one is attached to the ticket until that first use. At least, that is how I understood it to work.

This is what I've understood from Cheshire's posts over the years.

Good to know! So it won't matter that the KTTW card has a different name on it? It's difficult to have the tickets separated from the key.

Not really. It can be done at your hotel or any guest services area.

No, it won't matter unless something changes with the Magic Band roll-out. We have done this in the past to combine YES classes and free dining and had no problem applying the unused tickets to what we needed on a future trip. If you add days to the unused 2 day/free dining tickets the KTTW is replaced with standard ticket stock anyway.

I was talking about transferring tickets to someone else. I have upgraded free dining tickets on KTTW cards to APs months later with no problem.

Sorry, I wasn't clear... We did just that, most recently this past March, because the "cast" of the free dining trip was different from the "cast" of the trip on which we used the leftover tickets. My husband and son only come along on about half my Disney trips, and those are the trips where free dining is the best deal. So I had my mom and my DD's BFF use the leftover tickets from the guys' KTTW cards.

So if you pull your tickets off the KTTW card do they place them on another card? If so, how long can those tickets go before you must use them?

The tickets should never expire as long as they have never been used whether they are on or off a KTTW card.
