So last July (2008), my family and I took our first ever Disney vacation, stayed at the Poly for 9 days. It was perfect! Ever since, we've all been going through withdrawals and moping about wanting to go back. Initially, we'd decided to wait until my daughter turns ten (she'll be 9 in a few weeks), because of the dining plan. But...I couldn't resist and, without my family knowing, I booked us a Thanksgiving weekend stay at the Poly! So...any tips/thoughts for Thanksgiving weekend? Where should we have our Turkey Day dinner? I'm thinking Liberty Tree Tavern, but don't know for sure. It's so exciting, but I have no one to tell but my fellow DISers!

(And if I know you off the boards, PLEASE don't spill the beans to my DH!)

Congrats!! I'ts sooo much fun when you have something booked!!

How exciting! I like the idea of the Liberty Tree Tavern, it seems more Thanksgiving like than other places. Though I assume most restaurants have some sort of special menu for the Holiday!

We did our first family trip to WDW over Thanksgiving 2007 (we stayed 9 days, getting there the Friday before Thanksgiving week and leaving the Sunday after).

I will warn you, starting Thanksgiving day and going through the weekend after, the parks are SUPER crowded. I would advise staying away from MK on Thanksgiving day, they say it's a madhouse (we did AK on Thanksgiving and it wasn't too bad). I would highly recommend signing up for TourguideMike to get info for the week, since it is such a busy week.

I know it sounds crazy, but we did the Hoop De Doo review on Thanksgiving. And to this day, my kids swear it will be the best Thanksgiving the'll ever have (I think that's their way of hinting that we need to do it again). It's their regular menu, so nothing special for Thanksgiving, but we had a great time. And with something like Hoop De Doo, a show that has to start on time, there was no waiting (even with a ressie at the regular restaurants, you can have a wait)

Anyway, that trip was one of the best vacations we've ever had. Everything is decorated for Christmas and beautiful and you don't have to deal with the summer heat.

Have a great time.

LOVE the Hoop De Doo review!!! Good idea!

How exciting!

OT ~ Kevin and Lauren love wearing their hoodies everywhere. Kevin even got a group of friends from work into the books.
