If I could only lose 20lbs. by Thursday night!

Next weekend DH & I are going to Key West for a wedding and oh how I wish 20lbs would melt off by then. I can just imagine how much better I would feel especially in my bathing suit!

Walk, eat salad, drink water, walk. Let this become your life until Thursday! Good luck! I want to lose weight before my next trip down. I have to get going!
 
cut out all the carbs until then (and while there), you probably won't drop 20 lbs, but you may drop 10. Warning though, as soon as you reintroduce the carbs you will probably gain a lot of it back (unless you reintroduce them very slowly). I'm not saying it is a healthy way to go, or a long term way to go, but it works in the short term.

100oz H2o/day, 30 min walking/day, no processed carbs (ie BREAD!), no salt or sugar and eat at least 1 salad/day.

You will probably drop 10lbs if you start RIGHT NOW:banana:

I've been doing the weightloss thing for years and I've finally got it down. I lost 35 pounds hand have kept it off for 3 years now. My tips: Do not totally cut your carbs. You need them for energy and brain function. When it comes to carbs you want complex not simple. Your calorie intake should be 60% Carbs 30% Protein and 20% fat. The website www.fitday.com can help you keep track of your percentages. Its free and you can enter in all of your foods you eat and activites. For your water intake you need to devide your weight in half and that is how many oz. of water you should drink. If you drink alcohol or exercise you will need more. As far as exercise goes... you need to do strength training at least 3 times a week with light dumbells or resistance bands. Building muscle will allow you to burn more calories throughout the day. You also want to try to build up to 40min of cardio at least 5 days a week. If you can't do 40min in one session start with 10min a few times a day. You'll be amazed how quickly you'll get to that 40min goal. I have tried EVERY diet pill out there and have learned THEY DONT WORK LONG TERM! Do it the hard way..it may take longer, but its effects will last.

I think thats the only way this lard is coming off my butt! I guess I have to face the fact I am getting old and my fat is starting to like me and wants more company!:rotfl2:
 
Thats one of them things that the older you get the harder it is to get rid of, especially in a short time period. Try doing the dieting for the whole year, not just 3 weeks before you leave. Maintaining a slim, not obese, level is easier in the long term then short. I have no sympathy for overweight people, push yourself away from the table, no one forces food down your throat. If you want to be thin, watch what you eat, don't try to lose the 30 pounds before the vacation and then get on the dining plan and eat like there's no tomorrow and return home and continue on in the wrong way and repeat next vacation. You are what you eat! Older you get the harder to reduce, just stop that hand going to your mouth with extras.
 
Two words for my two cents worth - Weight Watchers.

Hey, you are not going to lose 20 lbs by Thursday, but how long did it take to gain the 20 lbs. Best thing I ever did for myself. I lost 50 lbs with Weight Watchers and have been a lifetime member for four years!!!

I absolutely love the WW lifestyle I have become accustomed too and will never go back to the way I was.

I find that rude! I don't eat alot at all and exercise at least an hour a day, but still am overweight. I have gotten older and the weight JUST won't come off. WW did nothing for me either. I think my metabolism is just DEAD! LOL But I don't think you should say that people should move away from the table, because that isn't everyones problem.

Chalk it up to ignorance...this was supposed to be a light hearted thread that I started because my shorts are a little snug.

Yeah!! I knew you were just "wishing" it could be done, but sometimes people take things to seriously! I'm there with you, "wishing" I could get back into some of my clothes too. After I had my last baby (2 years ago) My body has gone to hell! I just can't get the weight off, and it is so depressing! I am 38 now and I really think the my boidy thinks I'm too old to look godd anymore! LOL!

Really, I did find that post rude. I worked reallly hard to lose 30 pounds last year...when some of my friends can eat anything and not gain an ounce of weight. Regardless of how a person feels about the outward appearances of others, I don't think it needs to addressed on this board.

Not everyone who is obese eats till they explode. Some people have a medical condition, say thyroid problems. And if you have no idea what this is, it is when your thyroid is not functioning, and if you do not know what a thyroid is, it is the gland responsible for metabolism. I play tennis almost everyday and i walk a lot, and very fast at that, and i cannot lose weight b/c of this stupid problem. I dont eat like crazy as you are blaming all obese people as doing. Why dont you just chill out. This post was made because she wanted a little bit of help on how to lose a few pounds before her vacation. Who doesnt???? As for her, i hope she loses thos pounds and i hope that people like you dont get her down! :thumbsup2
