If fireworks are cancelled tomorrow nohht due to wind, will they still do snow? Will WOC take place if it's windy?

Yes on the first question. I was there a week and a half ago and the fireworks were cancelled, so they did the castle lighting in it's place and the snow right after that. I am not 100% sure on the second one, but I think yes.

There was another thread here where a poster said that WoC can sometimes be cancelled for wind...at any rate, it certainly is not cancelled as often as fireworks. I think a wind cancellation for WoC is pretty rare.

We were there 12/2-12/6. They cancelled fireworks on 12/5 and did the snow immediately following the cancellation announcement.

We spoke with several CM's in DL and they even called over to DCA to double check that WOC would be showing. They all assured me that it was NOT cancelled. We made the 15 min walk from the Castle down to the viewing area....by the time we got there, they were making announcements that WOC could possibly be cancelled. They made these announcements every few mins until the show started. About 3-5 mins into the show, the lights came back on and they announced the tonights showing was cancelled due to the winds. :sad2::sad2::sad2:(I since have watch a few mins on youtube to find out what we were missing due to the winds.)

A few lessons....first...CM's in DL don't know much of anything about WOC. Secondly, and MOST IMPORTANTLY (and this is something I have read here MANY times...so I should know better:guilty::guilty:)...don't leave something you really want to see until your last day/night. Ahhh!!!! I was so bummed that we missed WOC. Guess we have to plan a trip back very soon!!!

Yup, this is the evening that I was referring to in the other post that my friend was at the parks. I have been to the parks a few times that fireworks and Fantasmic! were cancelled, but only once when WOC was cancelled, and that was for technical reasons that night. WOC is not cancelled as much as fireworks.

Sorry you missed WoC! :(

Third tip--just because the Internet says a show always or almost always runs, that's not always true. When we went around Christmas 2009, I read here that they almost never canceled the parades, and for some reason I believed that. But even in very light rain during our trip they canceled the Christmas parade, so we missed it. And until today I had never heard any stories of World of Color being canceled for weather/wind (though I know it had been canceled for technical difficulties). But as you proved, evidently it can happen!

Sounds like wind was a big issue this month. Fireworks also cancelled Dec 1 when I was there. Fortunately we caught the show from F! viewing one night and then about half of it walking down Main St on our way back from DCA after WoC another.

Wanted to thank everyone for the tips! Fireworks were cancelled on Friday but we stayed put on main street and the did the castle lighting and snow and it was perfect!!!
