I voted 'not sure' mainly because knowing my luck it would be down south, so it would probs wind up costing me the same! :lmao:

Bob xoxoxoxox

I voted not sure as it depends on where it was based in the UK and probably knowing the UK it would cost treble to visit there.

Disneyland Resort London/Birmingham/Liverpool etc doesnt quite have the same ring to it as Disneyland Resort Paris :lmao:

I voted for 'yes' because eventhough it would still involve a train journey and booking tickets way in advance, I think I'd be more inclined to visit it more often as I'd think it as 'local' if you get what I mean lol. I'd definitely get an annual pass then ;)

Obviously if it was situated between the south and the Midlands, that would be smashing lol.

Like Bob, for me it would have to depend on where it was in England.
I'm quite lucky in that I can get to DLRP from my home in less than 5 hours, and for about £70 each return, all in.

If Disney was on my doorstep (ie within a couple of hours travelling distance) I'd be tempted to be there a lot. However, I don't do queues, and if we're doing a straight comparison between DLRP as it is now, lifting it and putting it in England, I think I'd get fed up with the crowds at weekends. So maybe I wouldn't be there any more than I am in DLRP :confused3 .

DLRP is a holiday for me, its exciting planning which hotel, which restaurant, which flight etc. That would be missing if Disney was a short drive away from me.

My sister lives 15 minutes from Alton Towers, and all her family have merlin passes, so they can go when they like. But apart from on school in-service days, they rarely go at weekends or in school holidays, as it just gets so busy. I think I'd probably feel the same way if Disney was on my doorstep.

I'm a not sure as well. We drive from Glasgow to DLRP so we'd still have a fair way to travel anyway. I'd just have the fear that if it was in the UK it would be full of union jack vest wearing, tattooed, beer swilling people which would take away a bit of that Disney magic for me ;)

My thoughts were that I would not visit DLRE (Disneyland Resort England) any more that we currently do to DLRP mainly based around the fact that I live within 2 hours of three theme parks (Alton Towers, Chessington and Lego Land) and I the last time I went to any of them was to Chessington seven years ago.

I too love the planning and the feeling of going on holiday which I, personally, never get when going away in England even if for a few days away.

No, because then it wouldn't be within an easy driving distance from where I live.

I am still debating whether I'll go for one day for the press event...

My very first thought was Woo Hoo, you bet i would.:cool1:

But then, after having thought about it for a while i decided that if it was near where i lived then i am sure that after a while the novelty would soon wear off and i wouldn't end up going anymore than i do now.

.

Yeah i have to agree !

I cant actually imagine a DLRUK!

Well Cap'n you probably don't go Alton or Chessington that often as they're not as big and don't have that Disney Magic.

The whole weather thing may put me off a bit though and als othe fact you would get the local lads that could ruin the current environment it has as a happy family day out.

It would have it's pros on cons but in the end I think i would go more if it was done in exactly the same way as it is now

That is indeed somewhat the case when it's close and you go a lot.
I can't bother anymore to wait longer than 20 minutes for a ride, which means I don't do that many rides at all when I go there. Parades, I still like them, but not that much anymore that I'm there an hour before it starts to get the best spot.
Shows, we still do that a lot.
Shopping, well, all the nice things I already have them and I think they don't change their collections enough.
Eating at Disney, always nice to do :)

I would say yes, not for a long break with all the trimmings but to pop along for a day or just an overnighter somewhere with a two day pass. I think it would be great. I would still want to do Paris though as I love the atmosphere there and listening to the French and the food.

I beat you - I can do it in two LOL :woohoo:

Seriously I voted no. I based it on the fact that I live an hour or so from London, Thorpe Park, LegoLand and Chessington. Doesn't mean I go there any more often. London indeed I do, but I don't visit the attractions. The theme parks are fun, but well, a visit once a year is enough.

The main factor is I don't want to loose the Disney Magic. I lived 15 mins from WDW with my Floridian ex, and the only time we visited the parks was when friends, relatives came over. After living so long there he simply lost it. Until me that was, I dragged him there....

I love Disney. I love feeling special. I love seeing the shows. I love the parades. I love the characters, but I don't want it on my doorstep. I recommend everyone moves to Ashford. My friends aren't really geeks and won't come with me. I definately know I'd not be short of anyone to go with if the forum moved in with me LOL!

Lisa.
P.S Of course, time of work and money is also a factor. Maybe if I should get a job there and commute LOL!

I am glad it isn't in England, I prefer paris to any UK city and it would probably cost more to go down south than it does for me to get to paris.

I voted yes. I am not planning on visiting DLRP in the near future are we are saving for 2 trips to WDW. If it was in England I would buy an AP and go for day trips with the occasional hotel stay for a special occasion. We have AP's for Alton Towers and we go there quite a few times a year but just stay in the hotels every few years.
One of the sites they looked at when deciding where to build a European Disney park is literally 5 minutes in the car from my house. I often wonder what it would have been like if they had built there!!

I voted not sure because

- we can't drive
- we don't seem to be getting out of London a lot, we like where we live, there're lots and lots of things happening in London, we tend to go to parks etc etc...

So yeah... Don't know...

But would be nice to have one close by ;)

I voted no because living in Glasgow it would probably take about the same amount of time to get there and I don't really see a holiday in the UK as a "holiday", lol. Plus Alton Towers to me is what DLRP is to many of you (like a second home, used to go loads when I was a kid) and I only make it down there about once a year!

I don't think I would go any more than I do now to be honest.

I bought an AP in January with the intention of booking more trips, but I suspect I may only get 1 or 2 trips on that - mainly because I'm quite busy or would rather go further afield (I was thinking about a trip in October time but am now considering a return trip to California DL instead).

Also - DLRP isn't somewhere you can visit too well in a single day. Assuming that was still the case with a DLRUK, I'd still be paying transport fees (and british rail charge a lot of money to go long distance - I priced up a train jouney of about 17 miles the other day and it came to about £8) and hotel fees which would be no different, meaning that the total cost would still be quite a lot.
