As I have read in other threads, you are off the ship pretty early on the last day. My flight out of Orlando is not until 5:40 PM so I will have a fair amount of time to waste between disembarkation and departure. I did purchase transfers through Disney but I am wondering if it possible for me to be taken to Downtown Disney from the port and then get trans from there to the airport later in the day? Does anyone have any experience with this or know if I can do this?

Thanks for everything!

You might be better off going to the airport first to check your luggage, then figuring out how to get to DD and back ... otherwise you'll be dragging luggage all around Downtown Disney with you all day.

Am I incorrect to think that I will be checking my luggage at the port after disembarkation?

Don't forget about the window time allowed for luggage check in at the airport. Right now I can't remember it, does any one remember the amount of time before your flight you can check luggage in? I was thinking 4 hours or less. Kathy

I had the same question- except we don't fly out untuil almost 11:00 that night. I called Disney and they have large lockers for very little money at the transportation center. We are using a towncar- they are taking us to the transportation center on the grounds of WDW, putting our luggage in the lockers for the day, then picking us up later for the ride to the airport.

I would look into reserving a rental car. You can get right off the ship, get a shuttle to Budget and arrive at DTD by 10:30 am. Leave your luggage in the car. And when it's time to go to the airport, just drop the car off at MCO.

I really liked this suggestion so I immediately looked into it...
Unfortunatley I am only 23 and this location will not rent to anyone under the age of 25...oh well

We were not able to check our luggage until mid-to-late afternoon...for our 6pm flight out of MCO. Of course we didn't have any big plans and ended up spending the time shopping around the airport...but it was a pain in the *** to have to carry all of our luggage with us.

hi.. I had the same problem two years ago. We did not depart until 8 pm that evening. We actually ended up getting a room at the hotel there. My son was little and my sister lived in florida so she came up for the day. This was awesome bc we went to lunch and early (we were at the airport by 9am), went and did some shopping there in downtown orlando, went swimming at the hotel and then we bathed the kids, took showers and headed for our flight. I was also able to repack my stuff. That was the bonus.

I never heard about the transportation locker thing. That may have worked too. Good luck.

DCL will not transport you to DTD and your flight is too late to utilize the airport check-in. You're only options are the ones listed above. Try to find a car rental place that will rent to you. www.dcltribute.com has a listing of all the car rental places close to the port. You can rent a towncar and leave your luggage in one of the lockers at the TTC. You can just hang out in the airport. The other option is to take the DCL transportation back to the airport and try to rent a car there. You can then drive to DTD from there and then return to the airport in time for your flight. That is of course involves the most schlepping and is also the most expensive. Personally, I'd just be one of the last off the ship at 9AM, you'll be at the airport probably around 10AM, get a luggage cart for your luggage and walk around the airport. There is a mall of sorts, between the two terminals and you could easily waste a few hours there.
