I called this morning about an AP discount for January and was told that they're only available for the "basic" sites, the ones with water and electricity only. I was quoted $291.34 for 7 nights. Since we're paying $433.16 right now for preferred with everything we're leaving ours as is. After all, if it turns out to be freezing that week we'll still have the option of bringing our trailer instead of the tent.

I rarely even ask for a discount myself because no matter what I'm never lucky enough to get it. In the off season I think I did once.

I have NEVER received a discount. They say discounts are on a "limited number of sites".... well, I think it's probably only ONE site (that's a limited number, isn't it?) and that site number is conspicuously hidden away in the Disney Vault and unknown to anyone ---(even a reliable CM or Bus Driver). They probably tied that site number around a peacock's neck before banishing it from the Fort!:lmao:

Speaking of peacocks,,,,, I'm going to pick Colson39 (Chris) up from his site when we're at the fort for Thanksgiving. We're going to go to Animal Kingdom and round the peacocks up and bring em back to the fort. Miss Sundee may be going with us. Maybe she can get us in the employees entrance without too much trouble.

Is there any real benefit to getting an AP when you are staying (in motorhome) at the Fort? At the most we might be able to go twice in one year starting next year but I am not sure yet. Would it be wise to get them or is it a waste of money? I haven't really looked into the benefits but it sure sounds like getting a discount off your site isn't one. :rotfl: I noticed that there really isn't too much difference in the price of the AP and buying our park hoppers for both trips.

I was able to use a code last year but this year I couldn't do it. And they never let me us AAA. Never any sites available.
Thanks.

AP's are fun because you get to try to squeeze as many trips into 1 year as possible! We are doing 2 shorter trips on a 10 day non-expiring pass instead though, because we wanted to add the water parks.

The thing with getting AAA discounts is calling as soon as they come out. AAA rates come out for the whole year at the same time, usually around August for the following year. The date is announced on the Resorts COdes & Rates board and on Mousesavers maybe.

It seems like they really limited AP discounts this time around. Not much of a discount, not all room types included, full price on weekends in the values, AAA is less, etc. Also, only AAA discounted rooms can be combined with the dining plan, not AP discounted ones (nothing new though).

It's not the first time Disney has treated AP holders badly.

I like the comment from one poster, "they are crappier than my AAA rate."

So it sounds like there are really no other benefits to the AP. I didn't know if they offered discounts for other things. I wish we could come to Disney more. Maybe someday.

You also get a discount at certain restaurants during certain times. And you get a discount at the World of Disney store in DD. :goodvibes

Lets not forget that with an AP you can buy the DDE card with gives you 20% off most table service restaurants and it includes ALCOHOL!!!!!!!:cool1:

Thanks guys. I thought there were some other perks for getting the AP I just haven't done much research on it yet cause I don't know if it is going to work out or not.

Should you only purchase an AP if you can go more then twice a year?

I think the cut-off, where it's worth it for the park tickets, is 9-days. If you will spend more than 9 days in the parks, between those 2 visits, then it's worth it to get the AP.

But, maybe, if you will spend 7 days in the parks, and will also use the other perks, it will still be worth it to you! :)

Thanks Rhonda. Each trip would be 7 days so that would be 14 total. I will have to do some more research.

If no one else has mentioned it, you also might want to consider if you will want the DP or DDE. That is a deciding factor for many folks. If you want the DP, just get the normal tix with a package. If you want DDE, opt for AP.

We wouldn't get the dp but the dde would be nice. We do some cooking at the motorhome but I don't want to cook all the time. ;)

Thanks.
