So we have the 3 for 5 day pass. we arrive tuesday sept 4 and should be in our hotel around 3-4. Is it worth going in to the park that afternoon? Our plan was to go the park wed, thur, friday. Then the following week we have other plans sat-tue. Leaving us wed and thurs to go back to disney for the last 2 days if we wanted. It just don't know how we are going to tell the kids "Hey we are right across the street from disney land but you have to wait until tomorrow morning to go" What are you thoughts.

Well, I am ALWAYS a proponent of adding extra time to hit up the parks as soon as your arrive, even if it means just going for a few hours. That said, it sounds like you already have 5 days hoppers and there have been very mixed reports lately about whether or not you can add any additional days to your 5-day tickets. That being said, I wouldn't trade a FULL day later for a HALF day at the beginning. Did I interpret your original plan correctly?

See you if you can upgrade your pass (before use) to a 6th day for $5. If so, then yes :)

Tough call :) To go in the afternoon once you arrive means using up a full day on your hopper to go for just 6-8 hours. That means you would have to miss one of your full days unless you buy another one day hopper which will cost a bit for a family. Oh yes! As stated above, if you are able to upgrade your 5 day hoppers to 6 day hoppers for $5 dollars each then go for it!!! There is a thread on here specifically for that and if it is still possible.

If no upgrades are allowed anymore for that low price then I would take them over and explore downtown disney for a few hours, go to espn zone if they like games, or other places, go have dinner, and get ready for the big days ahead :)

Have an awesome time!

LT :)

Why not wander around a bit. Check out the resorts and DTD, then schedule dinner at Chef Goofys. That way you don't need to eorry about trying to extend your tickets and you can still tell the kids they are going to do something disney that night. Just make sure you have enough time in case your plane gets in late.

I'd try to do the upgrade thing to 6 days if available. If not, I would wait. Go explore downtown disney, maybe go to build a bear or lego store, go to sleep early and be all ready to go in the morning. Get settled in your hotel, all that good stuff. How old are you kids? if they are young enough, they might not even know what is behind those gates and not realize it is there. If they don't, I wouldn't tell them it is.

You know, sometimes when we are there, we are so focused on the parks, we don't get to enjoy DTD. I always say we are going to Build a bear for DD, but we never have time because we want to be in the parks. So go enjoy the things outside while you can :)

Have a magical time!!!

I would not trade a half day for a full day either. Last visit we arrived at our hotel late afternoon. We enjoyed wandering around DTD knowing it wasn't taking away from our park time. We visited every Resort lobby and took pictures. In the evening we took the tram to the Mickey and Friends parking structure (you pick it up in DTD) and watched the fireworks from the top of the parking structure. We had a great view, and it was a lot of fun.

I was just trying to figure out if a half day at he end is worth it

We will have 3 days and then until like 3pm on the day we leave
I was going to play it by ear and upgrade at the park if we needed the extra time BUT
I am also unclear if you can upgrade after the ticket has been used

If anyone can help clarify and/or give an opinion, please do
Tia

You can upgrade before the end of your last day, so in your case, before the end of the third day in the parks. You will have to pay the full difference between the gate price for a 4-day ticket and what you paid for your 3-day ticket. Any discounts will be lost.

I often have 1/2 days in the park at the beginning or end of a visit, but I'm also an AP holder so it's not as much of a cost issue.

But that said, I've had some great moments in those half days. They can be great for just wandering around the park and soaking up atmosphere. They can be useful for leisurely checking out the stores. They can also be good times to hunt down favorite characters or experience a favorite attraction one last time.

So if I pay $250 for the 3 day hopper, and a 4 day is 275
I would pay $25

That wold be the difference, but that's also a discount vs what a normal tic

Just want to make sure you realize the park hours are shorter then, closing at 8. So you'd be getting 4 hours, not 6-8, if that makes a difference.

I think doing DTD and Goofy's or something fun for dinner would be fun. We're arriving the day before you and we are doing a half day, but that's because the park is open until 12 and we can catch F! and Fireworks. If it was a weekday I probably wouldn't do it.
