My DH and I are ironing out the itinerary for our trip next March, making sure we have all the hotel accommodations covered, etc. We had originally thought we would do our three days at DL/CA, then on our way north we'd stop to see the La Brea tar pits and Universal Studios. However, a quick look at the Universal website showed that 1) it is pretty darn expensive and 2) there is not a lot there that our kids aged (then) 4.5, 7, and a timid 10, will appreciate. So now we are looking for other options. Knotts is kind of the opposite direction we were looking to travel, ditto Legoland......
Any other ideas??

Of course, we could always add a day onto Disney! That would be a shame, eh?? :cool1:

I dont know which way this is, as I just sit in the car and hubby drives ;) but Aquarium of the Pacific's is awesome! BUT you are from Oregon Coast... and even though it is different than Oregon Coast Aquarium, you might be looking for something really different. I know it was a very short drive from Disneyland and we loved it!

I also would not do Universal Studios with kids the age of yours. Knotts Berry Farm is only about 10-15 minutes from Disneyland. I'm trying to think of something north of Disneyland.....

I agree with skipping Universal. Knott's is just a short drive northwest of DL (10-15 like Roxydotty said - whereas Uni is more like 45-60ish, maybe more with traffic). Personally I'd skip them all and just have another day at DLR! :lmao:

I'd skip both Universal and Knott's and add a day to Disney. It will be cheaper to add a day to your Hoppers vs buying one day tickets to either place. 4 days at Disney will give you the opportunity to revisit all your favorites the last day. :thumbsup2

If 4 days at Disney sounds like too much, I'd go to the beach. :beach:

I agree with the others. If you had teens, I would suggest Universal and Hollywood, but with little ones, no. I agree you should just add a day to DL. You can enjoy your hotel (and pool), see a movie in DTD, maybe just see all your favorite things in DL/DCA again. Do your kids like water parks? Knott's Soak City might be fun (or would it be too cold?). Good luck deciding.:)

Thanks, all! DH and I talked it over tonight and we are going to wait a little to see how our finances look - we will either add another day to Disney (always a good call) OR we'll just go to La Brea and call it good. I am kind of liking that idea too - it will mean we are less worn out at the end of day four AND it will free up some extra $$ for souvenirs! :thumbsup2

There is the coolest kids museum in La Habra (still Orange County) and it's not too expensive. There's so much for the kids to do. The can do a dinosaur dig, dress up like a firefight, astronaut, or many other things. There are just play rooms, and a city with fire trucks, polie cars, uniforms to go with them in kid sizes, a post office, mayor's office and more. The kids love it. You could do that for a while, then go back to the resort for swimming and relaxing. If you're interested, PM me and I'll find all the info.
