OK so DD11 turns 12 this Thursday and wants to have a Chef themed party this weekend. :scared1: Nothing like waiting til the last minute to tell me. So I need some help with ideas on what I should do to keep the girls entertained and feed. There are only going to be about 6 girls there including the birthday girl and I really don't want to spend a fortune. You guys come up with the best ideas so I would really appreciate it if you could help me. :flower3: Thanks

If you can find plain (white or light colored) aprons cheap enough get one per girl as the favour. Start them off decorating (and signing each other's probably) these with fabric markers as everyone arrives. The don them to cook.

Make your own pizza. Give each girl her dough, have her form it (prebake the forms a bit) and top it.

While the pizza bakes have them assemble their own fruit "custom" fruit salads from a toppings bar.

Break for lunch and then have a design a cookie contest. Provide a basic dough (or two) and a number of possible additions (jam, chips in various flavours, nuts--if no allergies, bits of candy, etc.). Have each girl make a mini batch of what she thinks will be the best cookie. Bake enough small cookies from each batch for the girls to try one of each. I would not do a full cake along with this--maybe a cupcake for each girl--I wonder if you could figure out how to make cupcakes look like chef's hats.

Plan some games, or just let them entertain themselvs while the cookies bake. Or, if you have a scanner and printer have each girl write out her three "recipes" and copy them to make take home books. The girls can decorate their books while they wait.

You could get each of them a chef hat and apron at the dollar store. Let them make their own pizzas and decorate their own cupcakes or cookies that you all make together.

I did a make your own pizza party one year
Gave all the girls a hunk of dough on a piece of parchment paper, they then formed their pizza, added their toppings and baked.
For dessert, I gave them all a wad of sugar cookie dough, they rolled, formed and baked their cookies then we made dessert pizza using cream cheese/peanut butter frosting, sliced green apples and caramel sauce.

It was super fun, very inexpensve and the kids really enjoyed it.

They made paper chef hats.

Then they had to smell different foods and guess what they were.

Then they had a "mystery ingredient" (hers were tortillas). The mom had a tableful of other ingredients. Girls were in two teams and had to come up with a recipe and make it.

They had 2 small cakes and they frosted and decorated it.

I did a cooking party once DD was younger. We made hats, decorated aprons, and they all made a very small pan of lasagne. They got to layer in whatever they wanted. They did veggies on a skewer and decorated cupcakes. I think I got it all from Family Fun.

Good luck!
