Originally I had Deluxe dining booked and a lot more credits open to pick and choose our dining itinerary. Now, however I chose to downgrade to The BASIC dining plan and upgrade to club level.....I've planned much of our dining, and have now run out of credits....On our arrival night I have to choose from a counter service restaurant and would like some opinions.

It is just my son and I. He's 14 and does not like to eat fish (I was thinking of grabbing Fish and Chips from the Yorkshire F/C shop in England....I've always wanted to try them and have always missed the opportunity on our previous trips).....

Our plan is to grab CS dinner and then watch Illuminations (another thing we have yet to see! Now that we are staying at an Epcot resort, I won't be missing out on this again!!!)

Where would you recommend eating for a good CS before Illuminations??/ or perhaps grabbing it "TO GO" and acquiring a viewing spot to watch illuminations? I have pretty much decided I will do the Fish and Chips take out, my son is thinking perhaps Mexican (grabbing a burrito or something from Mexico CS)

Any recommendations for a picky eater?? and any recommendations where around the WS we should "EAT and ENJOY" Illuminations? :lmao:

Thanks for your ideas!

England has great CS tables for viewing but there aren't very many of them and even without Illuminations, we've often had trouble getting a seat and end up sitting on the curb.

I think the best CS meal in any of the parks is Morocco's Tangierine Cafe.

Depending on how picky your son is, the bakery in France has some great choices. I like the cheese plate - it comes with bread and is very filling. You can also get a ham and cheese quiche or croissant. The croissant is very good as well. Morocco is good but a picky eater might not like it.

I don't know how the Mexican counter service will be after they re-open. But if he is really, really picky you can get hamburgs, hot dogs, and I believe chicken strips at the American pavilion.

He could also get just chips at the fish and chip shop. My daughter does that to keep us company while we eat and then we get dessert at France to keep her company while she eats her quiche sometimes.

Unless you are willing to invest a few hours into saving a table, I would plan to do take out and find a spot to sit along the fence and eat while waiting for Illuminations.

Sunshine Seasons has some good options but you will need to eat first. It is not a great option for grab and go.

Don't know what it will be like when it re opens but we've done cs @ Mexico and sat @ a table on their patio to watch Illuminations.

I always used to watch Illuminations from the "rear" over by Italy or Japan and thought it was the best view ever.

Last year we watched from the "front" right up against the fence, it was unbelievable, and will probably be our spot for this year as well.

The deciding factor should be which way the wind is blowing. Try and judge and get to the opposite side, you don't want all of the smoke blowing at you.

If you want to watch from the front, I suggest getting take away from your CS and staking out a spot an hour or so in advance, in the rear, 1/2 hour.

If memory serves me correctly, there is a CS place between Canada and the UK where the fish & chips are that serves either chicken strips or nuggets and fries. We did this last year for our picky eaters! There is a good spot there where you could watch Illuminations! Enjoy!:)
