So my nephew turns 3 right before halloween (Oct 27). Dh and I are heading to WDW in 3 weeks. :yay: I was thinking of doing the typical have-characters-sign-something/ take-pic-of-each-character-with-birthday-sign thing as part of a gift to him since he is finally "getting" the characters (he really loves Doc McStuffins for example).

The glitch is that we dont carry anything into the parks with us. If it doesnt fit in a pocket, it doesnt go. I was thinking I could buy some sort of muslin maybe that can be folded into a pocket, but that would still look nice in photos when it is unfolded. I would have to buy the iron on cricut "paper" to make the lettering and such, but that is not that big of a deal. But without some sort of embroidery hoop, how do the characters sign? (maybe I should skip the signing?)

Do you guys have any suggestions that are better than the muslin idea? I still have three weeks to make whatever I plan to take, so I am open to any ideas, even if they are a bit complicated.

What about a small pillowcase? That's all I can come up with, and someone would probably have to be wearing cargo shorts for it to fit. Good luck!

Geez. That's tough - OH! Do you carry a camera? On a man's white hanky, write

HAPPY BIRTHDAY <Nephew's name>

The hanky will fold up in someone's pocket. When you get to take a character photo, have the character hold the unfolded hanky by the corners in front of them. Make a little 4x6 photo album of all the photos when you get home.

If you are signing cloth no embroidery hoop needed just place a piece of scotch packing tape on the backside of material where you want the signature. It holds the material in place for easy signing. We have had all sorts of things signed but why not take a tshirt or pillow case. It would fold up into a pocket. A cap or bucket/ camp hat is fun too and one of you could wear.

Really, tape works? We leave in 36 hours (I was gonna ditch the whole idea), but I might try the tape thing!

I am fascinated with the idea of nothing to carry...........not even a dooney and bourke or le sportsac Disney bag, with crossbody strap? OK, WHY???? When I was a young mother traveling with little kids through the park, I was proud of how much I could have in my bag! Made sure I had a washcloth in a Baggie, Chapstick, sunblock, etc.

I know carrying nothing would have never worked for me. To each his own, as my Mom used to say! Have a good trip.
