We are leaving on Wednesday and flying from Pittsburgh(about 2 hours) and we have a 9,7 and 23 month old. I was trying to find things to occupy my baby on the plane. I think that the older 2 who have flown many times will find things to do but what to do with the baby?? We did get her a seat so she will be condfined and I did buy Wiggles colorforms but am confused as to what else to have on hand!! I was hoping to purchases a portable dvd player but I don't think that is going to happen(too much money). Thanks for any input!!!

Here are a few things we did:

1. Try to fly around normal bed time.
2. One of you board first with the car seat and have it strapped in.
3. Have never before seen toys (travel magnadoodle).
4. Bottle or sippy cup during take off and landing's for ears.
5. Favorite snacks ready.

Good Luck!

Timster has some great tips!

I always try and have a few new toys and also don't forget a comfort item that they are used to.

Snacks are a must.

Just don't stress or the little one will pickup on your stress. The calmer you can remain (even if they are crying) the easier it will be for them to calm down.

I'm sure the plane will be full of other families on their way to WDW so don't worry too much about disturbing other travelers.

I have found that the books that work with the "magic pen" seem to keep our 2-year old and our 7-year old occupied for quite a while. I bought some at Wal-Mart. You might also want to remember to hide something for the plane trip home, cause it always seems like it takes longer with lay-overs, etc..

Don't worry too much because it will ruin your fun. They will be fine! Have fun!

Thanks so much for the replies! I am trying hard not to get to stressed but I do when I fly and my doctor actually gave me something for it so it should help!!

Instead of a dvd why not a cassette player? You can get some great books on tape from the library, when dd's were little dh and I would read some fav stories on tape for them, works great with or without the corresponding book.

Color wonder is great, I saw a travel size pad with a hard back - great for the airplane. Also model magic if you think the baby/toddler won't mouth it. Like playdough but not messy and best of all NO ODOR.

Stickers and plain paper, a new coloring book as well as just a roll of tape would keep my girls busy forever.

I also got some lolly pops and fruit chews. They have arthur, disney, dora and many others now. My girls never got these at home so on the plane they were new and helped with the ear pressure. Avoid milk - they won't make the toddler sick but if they do happen to be airsick - you won't want them to have had dairy!!

If your flying duirng meal time pack something appropriate to tide everyone over as most airlines won't serve food esp on a 2 hour flight.

A sports bottle or sippie cup with water or clear liquid also helps with ears and hydration. Most people don't realize but we all are prone to dehydration when flying.

Have fun and relax
