I am taking my college-aged daughters to Disney World in May, 2010. I messed up and told them we were going instead of keeping it a surprise (well, they have to check their schedules anyways). However, they think they have to pay for their own park tickets (they are 20 and 22, live at home and work so that isn't a problem for them).

What they don't know is that DH and I will buy their tickets for them for Christmas and we would like to surprise them with this fact, SO.....I would like to do a treasure hunt (I know, silly, but the four of us are fun-loving) based on a Disney theme. I will put Disney themed gifts (that they can use on the trip) at each of three stops before the final destination.

So, I need some help in finishing my plan - I have kept my Disney MVMCP tickets and used them as a fronter on a card - the basis is that they will be on a "redemption card" (for instance, I have a MVMCP credit-card type ticket with Minnie on it and I'm going to put inside the card "Minnie-Mize your expenses - redeem this for a 6-day ticket for Disney World" and on the one with Goofy "We're not Goofin' around - redeem...."

I would like to send them all over the house looking for clues and will use Disney items (something like "you Tink-ers....are you still tryng to figure it out? Look here...." with Tinkerbell based items.

I would like to do 2 other stops....any ideas? I need clues and gift ideas please help if you can.:goodvibes

I guess including my college age son wouldn't be considered a good idea for a surprise? :) j/k

Tell them to "Race out to the car for a chance at travelling 145 M/PH!!"

Richard Petty driving experience tickets are 1/2 price for a ride-a-long.

I did it last trip & it was an unbelievable experience.

Good luck

How much were you wanting to spend on the other gifts?

You could get Disney Gift Cards - I think you can order from DL site and they ship up here.

New purse, backpack or fanny pack-what ever they like to tour the parks with.

Photo album/scrapbook to put photos of the trip in.

I'm not good a writing clues.

Ted, is your DS decent and caring?? - if so, send him our way! :rotfl2: the guys my youngest daughter know leave a lot to be desired....to me they sound a lot like Charlie Harper from "Two and a Half Men". LOL

thanks for the ideas though!

You sound like the coolest MOM ever!!!

How 'bout (and take what you like, leave what you don't):

"Her Stepmother tried to keep her plain, what was Snow White's downfall is your gain" - hide a "redemption ticket" in a bowl of apples. (It sounds like you're making cards to exchange for gifts?)

"We may not live in the Hundred-Acre Wood, but a smakeral of this will still do you some good" - hide a present of card behind the honey in your cupboard.

"This gal won't be making you paint any roses red, but she does have a gift for you, so she said." - tape a redemption card on the back of a Queen of Hearts card in a deck. They are college age after all, make them work for it!

"As you know, we love you lots and lots. Your gift is inside our version of Mrs. Potts" - hide a small item in a teapot.

"And now, you know, our game is done. We have presents of Disney tickets for EVERYONE!"

Have a great time!!! :upsidedow

HOly cow, I originally made you a grandma. didn't mean to make you a grandma before your time! I must have been reading a different post and got confused!

sorry MOM!!!

Belly Baby, that was exactly what I was looking for!!! thanks for the wonderful ideas!

I am actually a mom of college aged kids and a grandma at the same time so I can understand why you would be totally confused.;)

My step-kids are only 9 & 10 years younger than I am and they have kids who I consider semi-grandkids. Hubby and I got married 9 years ago and he is 13 years older than I am and he had kids really young so I actually have a grandson who's only 4 years younger than my youngest daughter. Blended families are the BEST, aren't they???

Gotta tell a cute story - when my step-son met me for the first time, he was coming out to Manitoba for our wedding :bride:. When he saw his dad inthe airport, he came up and he hugged him. Then, he turned to me - I stuck out my hand to greet him and introduced myself - the first thing out of his mouth was "just how old are you anyways?" I answered I wasn't old enough to be his mother but not young enough to be his sister either, his dad told him my age. He then put the other foot in his mouth and answered (very loudly!) "But I've dated women your age!" to which I answered "apparently, so has your dad!" It's been a family joke that's been ongoing for years and he has NEVER lived it down.

WOW! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I think I got confused because I just booked a family (we just bot a vacation home down there) where the grandma was taking her daughters and granddaughter to Disney. So when you mentioned your girls I got messed up.

But very good story, I guess your stepson was a very young man at the time. He was just jealous his old man scored so well! ;)

I'm in Manitoba, too, we just moved from Wpg to the border, DH got on as a border officer. I get to answer a lot of border crossing questions on here.

Leaving this Thursday  out of Fargo with Allegiant Air $144 US pp! :thumbsup2 I try to spread the word of cheap airfare, so many people I run across never heard of them.

My GF got married down there (yup, Cinderella carriage and all, AMAZING thing to see and be a part of). Our first trip to WDW, and we instantly became addicted.

Can't wait, going to try to see all the xmas decor for the first time ever! :santa:

You have to report back how the girls liked their game!

(my countdown ticker is off, too lazy to change)
