Would love to take my 6 yr old somewhere early march. Her older sibling does not have spring break so will be in school and DH will stay with her. So i need somewhere I can fly to and then take a taxi/car service as I will NOT rent a car (newish driver). Not sure I will do disney- although she asks for it a lot. She likes sand...I am not a great swimmer . I know I sound like a loser! Anyways, beach resort or nice resort maybe. Was debating one of the nice Universal hotels (have stayed at Portofino and Hard Rock but Royal Pacific looks amazing) and maybe a couple days at US and then the JW Marriott? What suggestions do you have? It may only be a 5 day trip. I keep asking her where she wants to go and she says the beach hotel we stay at near here in CT in the summer time--- March up here is awfully cold so that wont work!

Completely out of left field, and not at all sand beach, but can I suggest Washington DC? We went a handful of times in the March time frame when our DS was was in the range between 5 and 10 or so, in addition to one to two Disney trips per year on average since he was a baby. I remember one of his early "essay" type assignments in first or second grade being about DC and not Disney, we were so surprised! He just really liked the Smithsonian museums, riding around on the Metro, checking out the monuments, and just the whole feel of it.

If you're looking for a beach vacation, I absolutely loved both the Hyatt and the Hilton in Clearwater. The beach is very nice and there are lifeguards on the beach. The Hilton is right on the beach, while the Hyatt is across the street. My DD was a competitive swimmer and we often went to a big swim meet in Clearwater during spring break. You'll have to Uber there and it'll be pricey. If you want a Disney twist, Vero Beach is nice too but you will probably need to drive there. If you're looking for a beach break where transportation is easier, Miami Beach is also very nice. We've stayed on the beach a number of times. We cruised out of Miami back in September and an Uber was less than $30 to get us from an airport hotel to the cruise port. I imagine that an Uber to one of the Miami Beach resorts would be comparable.

My kids had a good time playing in the sand at Universal's Cabana Bay and my almost 6-yr-old loved the lazy river since it was only 3 ft deep. 5/6 also seemed like a good age to start to appreciate Universal rides/theming.

I would wait till all this OMICRON, COVID, etc is over for Washington D.C. DC has very strict rules regarding COVID and will be the first to go back to closing all the museums, etc at any sign of the virus.
