Ideas for secret santa gift?

OK, I admit I'm gift-giving challenged. I realize this should not be that hard.

Every year we attend Thanksgiving dinner at a friends house and we do a secret santa swap. The rules are the gift should be around $50.00 and appropriate for either sex. It's the appropriate for either sex part that stumps me. No gift baskets of bath and body works, scented candles, spa items, jewelry, etc.

We need to bring 3 gifts and I'd love for one of our gifts to be the one that everyone 'steals'. Anyone have any ideas?

If people drink, alcohol always was "stolen".

Sports fans in the group, something from the local team.

Movie tickets.

Resturant gift card.

Latest DVD with a throw balnket, popcorn, movie candy etc.

Have fun!

My first thought was a back massager or a back rest, something along those lines. Maybe a gadget from Sharper Image.

Best of luck

The gift boxes I've done get stolen a bunch at these things...

I've done a margurita one- with glasses, mix, alcohol and a beach bag with beach towels (with $50 you could get a blender even)

Movie night at home- blockbuster gift card- popcorn bowls, and lots of movie like candy, and of course popcorn Jiffy pop or microwave.

family game night- several board games- and cards

travel basket- gas card, travel game, book on driving trips

romantic- wine, glasses, candles, music, chocolate

Chocolate- a fondue maker and all the fixings

outdoors- camping stuff (flashlights, outdoor cooking supplies)-

BBQ- the tools, wooden planks, bbq sauce, etc

car care- stuff to wash a car or a kit to go into the car for emergencies

passes to local fair- gave the passes with waterbottles, and a small ice chest

tailgate party- ice chest, disposable grill and snack foods- maybe folding chairs

new years party pack- favors (hats, horns, poppers)- champagne and glasses

wine lovers- openers, glasses, the little jewels to label glasses and wine of course

bar set - book on different drinks and a bunch of mixers and bar tools

Specific games- pokeeno, bingo, poker, dominoes, etc sets for those who like to play

My one rule of thumb- is I always get something I would want myself- that I would be thrilled with...

Last year my brother-in-law thought it was so funny to have gag gifts- it wouldn't have been bad if after it was over he had something real to exchange- but he spent $10 for a $40 limit exchange- and I was not happy with my chia pet... so this year we aren't exchanging with the adults. My mother-in-law isn't happy- but we all are with this.

If the person has a car, I give a gas card. If they don't, I give a grocery store card.

It's just too hard to buy for people when you don't even know them well. It's hard enough to buy for people I do know!
