Hey everyone!

So as my countdown clock continues to tick closer to my trip to the polynesian I am really excited abuot it. I know I have read on here about this before but thoguht I would ask for some advice.

This is my first time at a ful soncierge level at a WDW resort. Also my first time at the poly...the CMs have been VERY helpful and I would like to say thank you. I was considering either sending something ahead of my arrival, or taking something with me to give the concierge staff. Any suggestions? Nothing too expensive, but a nice token of thanks for all the hard work...

I will look forward to hearing some good suggestions! I thank you (and Im sure the poly staff will thank you too :) )

Hi. So excited for you! We just stayed Poly concierge for the first time and it was very nice. You are sweet to want to give them a thank you gift. There have been many postings about this on the concierge thread. You might want to look those up.

I was thinking about that also. I think it might be cool to get them something regional from where you live. It could be as small as a nice postcard with a pic of a local spot with your gratitude statement. Or a fridge magnet highliting something from your hometown.

I know you will have a wonderful time. Be sure to ask for choc milk or anything else you might want in the lounge. They really try hard to get you things. They even got me diet caffeine free coke!

The view of the castle is really great from the loung. Blow it a kiss for me:wave2:

I sent Godiva chocolates when we went earlier this month. I too was at a loss, I didn't know what to send. Harry and David has a lot of nice gift baskets also.

Goodferry...did you send it to IPO or the Concierge lounge? Melisa has been very helpful in planning our July/Aug trip, so I want to make sure that I send her something special. Also did you do anything for the staff in the lounge?

Thanks!

When we went Poly Concierge we didn't have any PS's to make only a "Special Occassion" request. Since they seemed to convey confidence that request would be made (Sadly they didn't do anything) we sent them each a nice tropical candle. I make candles, so it wasn't that big of a deal. They never let me know one way or the other whether or not they received or liked the candles. Again, NO BIG Deal. So what I am trying to say is if you are wanting to give them a little token of appreciation, you might take it with you and make sure they receive it. I never knew if it got lost in the mail, if someone from another department opened it or if in deed they did get it. I addressed them directly to the people I wanted them to go to, so I hope they got them. They had been e-mailing so I kind of thought that they would just send a note to let me know that they got them.

I hope this helps a little.

Wendi - this has happened to me before also, with the GF. I don't want a lavish thank you note and eternal gratitude, just to know the recipients received it. It makes me nervous sometimes sending things off into the wide expanse of WDW.

I usually send Godiva (baskets, biscuit tins, etc.) and something more personal to the IPOs. I send something edible for the entire staff, then something more significant to the specific individuals that helped me. I usually also send something to the concierge staff. This trip, my fiance is planning on tipping in cash, even though we've heard reports saying they can and can't accept it. I guess we'll find out.

I've read of others sending gift certificates, gift baskets, floral arrangements, etc.

Well, I really want t osend soemthing down before i go...thanks so much for the suggestions....I'd kinda like to hear what Tiniman thinks about doing something like this...

Also, I am arriving at Poly Concierge on July 22, when should I send something?

At Christmas, , We tipped the CMs cash (One envelope addressed to all the CMs with particular mention of those who helped us personnally; given on our last day) - which goes into a group fund to be used for pizza parties and other group activities. We stayed Poly Concierge, as well as AKL concierge and asked several CMs at both locations if cash tips were permissable, and were told the same thing by all.

I believe that whenever possible, all gifts/tips are to be shared amongst all the CMs (won't work with a fridge magnet of course, but chocolates most definitely) - In fact, one day we noticed the CMs at the Poly downstairs trying to discreetly "split" a toiletry gift basket (lotions and such) amongst themselves ((CMs would come from the lounge and pick something from the basket)).

As with all of us, I think the CMs like to be appreciated for a job well done, and any little token/card would do that!

On our last stay we brought along a nice box of really good chocolate (can't remember the name). I gave it to one of the CMs at the desk one night and told her it was for the entire staff who had made our trip so wonderful. At least 4 different CMs stopped me in the next two days to say thank you. I know they appreciate the thoughtfulness.

We also witnessed several very rude guests during our stay. I could not believe how some people treat others simply because they think they are there to serve them. Maybe it's because my DH has a service oriented business that we never forget what it's like to be on the receiving end of outrageous behavior.

Choose something that the staff can share and attach a personal note of thanks from your family.

I gave the CMs at AKL and the Poly a gift basket of Moravian Cookies. They are made locally.

All week CMs thanked me for the cookies and wanted to know where they could get more. They are addictive.

I know they appreciate any token of appreciation.

Sorry if I am late answering your post cajunfan, I forgot about this thread. :wave2: We sent a basket ahead of time to IPO and brought chocolates with us.

What a GREAT idea. We live about 30 minutes from Moravian Falls. I too am addicted to those wonderfully thin, crisp cookies. Ginger are my favorite, but I'll gladly eat the walnut or sugar...

Since I know they were a hit with you, I might bring some as my gift. I've been wondering what I should do for these folks...

I'm loving the great ides..I certainly have a starting place...so should i send it down before i get there? if so when should i send? I check in on the 22.

Hey Jungle - I was thinking I need to do gifts in two waves.
1) To the folks in IPO who have been making all my PSs, and being so patient with me as I make numerous changes.
2) To the CMs who will be taking care of the Lounge and assisting me while I am on-site.

great thead. . i too am wondering about gifts for poly concierge.. all these tips are great.. melissa has been excellent!! anybody know the address where to send these gifts? any more thoughts?

i would also be interested to hear tikiman's thoughts on this...

we never thought of giving a gift to say thanks which is why we really love these boards we are staying concierge on our next visit what types of things can they arrange for you

Poly's IPO is at the Seven Seas Lagoon address at the poly.

I've mailed many gifts to IPO's at the AKL and Poly before our trip.

And, we save some special treats for the concierge CMs at the end of our stay.

Texas Pecan Pralines have been my gifts lately.

IPO CMs...sent flowers, sleep shirts, candies (Ethel M....is a wonderful chocolate!).
VAgal even sent a certain outstanding IPO CM a beautiful pair of slippers!

hope this helps!

I have never sent a gift. I guess I thought it was their job to do what we are paying the extra in concierge to do. (Hope that doesnt sound snotty):)

I did however send a letter to managment telling them about their WONDERFUL TERRIFIC staff!!:sunny:
