We are looking for fun ideas for one-on-one time with our kids during our WDW trip next summer. DS will be 6 and DD will be 3. We will be staying at SSR. We were thinking it would be special for our kids to have their own one-on-one time with mommy and daddy.

Some ideas we have thought of so far are miniature golfing with DH and DS and possibly the princess tea with DD and me (is 3 too young for this???).

Any other ideas for things that might be fun for mother/daughter, mother/son, father/daughter, father/son?

Thanks so much for your ideas! :)

On our last trip, special one-on-one time just kind of happened. My daughter who was 6 at the time got a vomiting virus on the 2nd day of our trip. We had no idea how long it would last and assumed our son (then 4) would also get it so we figured we better make the best of the time we had. I took DS to MK and did only things he loved. We went to Tom Sawyer Island and found a paintbrush and used the fastpass "reward" to go on BTMRR. We also went on Splash Mtn and Pirates and rode the monorail around the resort loop several times. DS spent the afternoon at Epcot with Daddy going on Test Track over and over and playing in the fountains.

Fortunately, the virus lasted less than a day, no one else got it and DD was ready to hit the parks the next morning. Later that week, DD and I went to Downtown Disney, ate lunch at Rainforest Cafe and had a blast shopping for souvies without the boys.

For me, it was really fun taking just my younger child to MK and doing ONLY what he wanted. His sister usually dominates so he was really excited to get to make all the choices for once.

I agree. We only have two but we split up for the first time in WDW on our last trip. We all agreed we want to do it again.

DD is afraid of Haunted Mansion and any "dark" rides. DS love them. Though we did kind of force the issue with some rides with her and made her go - we did talk about Mickey Magic, pretend, I even told her how they did some of the things and pointed to the lights and gels on them to create the eerie images - we decided this needed to happen and it was great!

No competition on whose "turn" it was to ride with which parent, or whose choice for ride it was or whining over I don't want to do that. Heaven.:cloud9:

they have cane-pole fishing at Ft. Wilderness and a petting zoo and a fun playground, and bass fishing excursions on most of the lakes, and parasailing (for 2 people) at the marina at the contemporary. My dh and ds6 did the bass fishing excursion and parasailing this past summer (but ds is an avid fisherman... if a kid isn't, I don't know how they'd like it... he's also a daredevil so he loved the parasailing too).

dd9 and I have had girls days at the magic kingdom a couple of times. Just concentrating on everything princess (make ressies for the castle - and if you can't get them, walk up in the morning and if it's just the 2 of you, you have a chance to get in sometime that day). Belle's storytime, princess shopping, BBB, etc. We once did MK together from 7am (early entry) till around midnight. It was one of the best days ever for both of us! That day, ds and dh went 'lizard hunting' at Ft. Wilderness (we were staying at the cabins that trip), went around on the golf cart we had rented and were alligator hunting, did every playground there, went cane pole fishing, swimming, etc.

Just taking 1 child to whichever park they want, and doing everything they want, is SO magical in itself. Have fun!!

I took my oldest to MK one night while DH stayed back at the resort with the little ones. They went swimming, got pizza, and went to bed early. The time I spent with DD was really a highlight of the trip. We walked around at a slow pace (with no strollers!), went on all the attractions she wanted, sat on a bench and talked, got ice cream, etc. She still talks about that night and all the little details. We will definitely plan some one-on-one time for our next trip.

These are all great ideas - thanks! DS was very excited to hear about the fishing option! I think he and DH will definitely be doing that.

It's nice to hear how special the one-on-one time has been for you all. Looking forward to creating some special memories with our kids too. :thanks:
